Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Pours a cloudy light orange with a very tall white head leaving fluffy patches on the glass. Strong hoppy character in the aroma surrounded by a yeasty citrus and spicy wheat nose. Nice pleasantly light flavor shows a refreshing doughy body with great hop backbone with a slight bitterness rolled in.

Golden orange, huge frothy/rocky white head. Yeasty banana bread up front, spicy/herbal hop background, faint citrus. Flavor not as bright as aroma. Biscuity malt character up front, spic and herbal hops come in through the middle. Finishes with some soapy bitterness. Lively mouthfeel. Finish knocks off a few points.

1 beer in. Slight bread and spice aroma. After taking a sip of this great beer, your mouth hungers for more. No residual taste or bitterness in this beer. A welcome hop taste occurs as you take a swallow of this beer. In the end, I am amazed at the alcohol content of this beer. No alcohol hotness. Just an easy drinking beer!

Pours deep amber/orange into a tulip. Fluffy head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Resin and pine aromas. Creamy and full with upfront wheat and a lasting grapefruit finish. This is the best Brooklyn has to offer.

A combination of hoppiness and an unfiltered weisse that is amazing. I love this combination and this might be one of my favorite beers by Brooklyn. There is a distinct smell of hops from first whiff, but they are not overwhelming, allowing the entire beer to be balanced perfectly. A strong 8.5%.

Bottle at GOBF ’08. Pours a lightly hazy medium golden color. A foamy, off-white head shows good retention, leaving some nice lacing behind. Aromas are heavy on caramel and overly ripe bananas, with a hefty spice billing that includes cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Though its on the sweet side, the nose is pretty inviting. Flavors do not disappoint, basically continuing the theme of spiced bananas and caramel, with perhaps a touch of rum cake thrown in for good measure. I can imagine some nice dessert pairings for this beer (bananas foster, perhaps, or maybe some vanilla bean crepes). The medium-full, sweet body skirts the line of being cloying. Overall, this is a very enjoyable beer. Nice collaboration here.

Tasted from a bottle at GOBF, knocked my socks off. It had notes of citrus, hops, with emphasis on lemony character. It’s finish was clean and a bit tart. Good beer, I wish it was more readily available.
