Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Draught at Barley’s. After having Schneider’s bottled rendition of this, I was very excited to try the Brooklyn version with American hops! Pours a cloudy gold with a magnificent head. The aroma is spicy, green, and grassy. Banana, citrus, and deep leafy, grassy scents tantalize my senses. Hm, I take a sip and find loads of fresh, fruity, juicy flavors. This is a delightful thirst quencher with depth and a huge amount of orange, melon, and leafy flavors. I reluctantly say that I enjoyed the prior recipe more with the Hallertau because it had more sharpness and a dryer finish. . . and dare I say it was more hoppy? This was very enjoyable though and a really unique concoction.

Growler from eyedrinkale tasted at Pizza Port Strong Ale festival. Thanks Mike! Notably yeasty hoppy aroma. Great aroma. A bit phenolic, which perhaps in intentional with the choice of yeast and brewing temperature.

750ml bottle-Pours a slightly hazy orangish yellow with a huge white head. Aroma of hops, wheat, banana, and spices. Taste of spices, banana, citrus, sweetness, and very slight alcohol. This medium bodied brew is very well balanced and I believe less assertive than the Schneider but both are KICK ass. Great job.

Pleasant surprise at Brewgrass 2007. Poured a cloudy straw color with a thick off-white head. A ton of clove and citrus in the aroma with a complimentary hop aroma - not like a Houblon mind you, but this wasn’t the intent judging from the description. Pretty interesting taste. Light malt with classic clove and pepper taste, but citric hop on the finish. A very different direction than the hoppy belgians - and hopping a weizenbock seems less of a stretch than hopping a tripel/Belgian. Nonetheless, this was a distinct brew and one I had the dumb luck to run into.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks Shachar! Cloudy orange with a big white head. Aroma of yeast, grapefruit, some light wheaty esters and flowers. Bitter hoppy flavor with citrus, light piney hints and some wheaty sweetness and fruits in the background. Medium-bodied.

750ml. Hazy lemon yellow pour with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is really interesting; spicy lemon, creamy and vanilla. Quite unique. Complex and enticing. The flavor is equally exciting. Sweet and spicy but there is a nice citric hop character that imparts a cleansing lemon finish. A really beautiful and drinkable beer.

Opens with a pop and a puff of smoke! Great pour, deep dark golden orange with so many tiny bubbles and a HUGE creamy off-white froth that sticks around forever. Wow, great aroma, sooo hoppy, spicy, banana, clove... fantastic! Tried to take a sip and it left white suds all over my nose and upper lip! Its says 7.8% however my bottle says 8.5. Im inclined to think 7.8 as it is way less hot and more manageable than the Schneider-Brooklyner. The stronger hop character and better wheat/barley malt ratio really balance and fill it out. Sweet and sticky, medium body, but still fluffy and very drinkable. Long juicy hop finish, very rich. Some butterscotch and orange peel. $%*&#$*Q(%@ sooo good!
