Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

(Draught) Pours a cloudy golden body with medium-sized off-white head. Aroma of citrus, clove, banana, bubblegum, light florals, and toasted grain. Flavor of banana, clove, caramel malt, and wheat. Exceptional!

On tap. Poured a deeper and cloudy yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of bananas, cloves & other spices, light citrus, and vanilla. Tastes of bananas, cloves, fruity, and citrus. Lacing left on the glass.

Tap, Blind Tiger NYC. Gorgeous direct golden pour, opaque and fully cloudy. Delicate, yet lasting white foam. Delicious hoppy aroma mixing saaz-like flowery hoppiness with an American citrusy (Amarillo-like mandarine flavours) on top of sprucey and resiney nose. The wheat serves its purpose through texture and pushes its own acidity against the hops’ citrusy one. It seems hard enough to succeed in balancing those should-be clashing flavours, but it’s masterfully achieved to my senses. The whole thing is hugely refreshing, original and tasty. Bitter, but not so much. Cleansing, excellent carbonation. Light-medium bodied. Great stuff.

Bottle at beer exposed, quite a few samples. Alround rating: Over carbonated, quite a bit of alcohol, theres some nice fruity hop character, but the wheaty alc over carbonation detracts it for me.

Bottle... Lightly hazed yellow ale with a huge, wispy, white head. Excellent retention. The aroma is very phenolic with tons of clove and light mesquite smoke. Esters include, but are not limited to, overripe banana. I can’t figure out the rest. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Sweet up front, followed by moderate bitterness, with light tanginess carrying up the rear. Spicy and citric. Lengthy, bitter, tangy finish.

On tap at Blind Tiger on 9/15/07: Pours a cloudy murky golden with a nicely-lacing frothy white head. Aroma of fresh citrusy American hops and nice estery banana and yeast character. Body starts full and lightly caramely sweet with nice fresh hops and clove spice well-balanced and big in flavor. Finishes bready bittersweet. A big beer, but still refreshing and drinkable.

courtesy of Laurent Mousson - cloudy dark orange colour with a little persistent beige foam; slightly dusty with notes of solvant, honey and banana; slightly oily and with a good malt body; effervescent and quite creamy mouthfeel; long fruity and hoppy finish with some residual sweetness

Muddy deep orange colour with a nice white head. Malty and wheaty sweet aroma with hoppy and yeasty citric notes. Wheaty sweet flavor with a light caramel note along a hoppy fruityness. Light dry and hoppy finish with a vague sweet note.
