| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 26, 2008 750 mL into Aventinus glass. Pours a cloudy bright golden with a huge white fluffy head that barely goes down leaving great lacing. Looks like a hefeweizen but smells like an IPA- lots of bitter orange, grapefruit, spicy and herbal hops, and yeast. Taste is like a saison and IPA blend with tons of citrus, spice, white pepper, Good creamy mouthfeel with little warming alcohol. Totally amazing in every way. Slipstream (760), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 3, 2008 Bottle #0528. One of the pricier brews I have tried ($14 for a 25.4 oz bottle). Cloudy tan pour (looks almost like honey) with a big, spongy head. Averagel label using the Brooklyn Brewery logo. Penetrating honeysuckle aroma. Tastes full and hoppy, with some orange, astringent tang and strong wheat tones. It is smooth and flavorful on the palate, with a good amount of malty sweetness. This is very similar to the Schneider-Brooklyner version. It would be interesting to someday try them side by side. I love good weizenbocks, and this is definitely one. thenick (746), North Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 31, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy golden/orange color with a huge white head - this bottle was alive. Aroma is clove, banana, citrus, grain, and a slight display of cinnamon. Taste is roughly the same, though not as strong as the flavor would suggest. Very solid and balanced, but not spectacular. djd07 (741), Houston, Texas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy golden with a large creamy white head that lasts awhile leaving behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a banana yeast with citrus and honey. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt taste with yeast, banana and a nice crisp finish. Hides the alcohol making it easy to drink, very refreshing, a very impressive Weizen-Bock from Brooklyn. corby112 (741), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Pours a golden yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma has hints of banana and grafefruit, very citrusy. tastes very much like the aroma with a strong banana and citrus flavor. Very drinkable and quite tasty. coldbrewky (730), Saugerties, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2009 This is a robust brew from the opening pop of the cork. A whoof of hops hits you in the nose as it is opened. The hop force side by sid e with its opposite number out weigh the subtler German borne weizen bock. The Ammarillo and allisade combo form an intense citrussy blend that nearly goes sour on the finish but is bolstered by the malt body into a reasonable finish. jhumphries69 (729), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 21, 2008 750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours a deep, cloudy, glowing orange gold with a very thick, though short-lived, white head that never dissipates completely and leaves a few strings and spots of lace on the glass. The aroma is a big whiff of fresh hop leaves - citrus and freshly-mown grass. After your nose gets through the hops, there are spicy phenolic aromas (allspice), subtle fruit (plums, peaches), and a subtle sweet malt aroma. The flavor starts in a very complex fashion: alcohol, grassy hops, chewy malted wheat, and spices. Fruitiness and funkiness grow as the beer ventures towards mid-tongue. Hop bitterness also grows. The finish is somewhat dry, bitter from both hops and ethanol, and very complex with fruity esters and spicy phenols. The mouthfeel is luxurious - creamy, sudsy and soft, full-bodied, and densely carbonated. Overall, an absolutely awesome beer. I don’t think weizenbock, however, is a remotely suitable appellation. More like an American Strong Ale (tastes more like a Belgian Strong Ale thanks to the funk from the Schneider yeast). Regardless of style, this beer is awesome - a total home run (and it comes only one day after the last home run I tasted: Allagash Hugh Mallone...)
