Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Pour is hazy gold with a big, foamy white head. Nice lacing left behind in the glass. Aroma of lemon, fresh grass, spice and some floral hopping. Flavor is bitter up front partially due to carbonation. Finishes dry, almost too dry for my liking. Medium bodied. Decent beer.

This one poured a golden orange color with a medium foamy white head that receded slowly. The aroma is of banana, cloves, cinnamon, and some citrus fruit hops. The flavor follows suit with some spices, bananas, cinnamon, and caramel malt flavors. The flavor isn’t overly sweet, but has a good amount of hops in there. The body is medium-full with a good amount of carbonation that finishes very clean with a hop bitterness left behind. This one is good, but I like the Schneider version a little better. Another solid collaboration from these guys again.

The color was golden. The head was thick, frothy, white, and laced. The aroma was alcohol, yeast, wheat, and lemon-grass. The flavor was sharp, lemon-grass, wheat, and alcohol. The palate was nicely carbonated. The finish was warm.

Orange-gold. Gigantic head. Smells exactly as I expected, which is awesome. Lots of American hops which work very well with the soft banana and sharp clove. The flavor starts off dominated by hefeweizen--big, rich hefeweizen with spices, fruit, and citrus. Then come the citrus-thick American hops, first blending almost perfectly then taking over completely. A touch of wheat comes back after the swallow. Very impressive beer.

750ml that I paid too much for. Hazy, golden-orange pour with big, loose white head. Smells nice - barnyardy, fresh, bready, and chewy. Nice hops in there. Fresh citrus zest. My bottle said 8.5%, but I couldn’t smell or taste it. Smooth and balanced finish. Soft body. Nice beer.

Draught at Dunedin Brewery. Glad to have a chance to sample this one. Light bodied wheat pour, small off white head. Nose is like an Abbey Tripel, huge notes of fusel alcohol, cloves, black pepper, lemons, piney hops and other assorted spices. Not really a fan of Tripels at all so this one is a bit off-putting to me. Flavor is very similar, huge clove and peppery spice. Finish is very lengthy, the best part of the beer. Not a fan, but there were good parts.

750 shared with a buddy. I am not into wheat beers, but this one was pretty quality. Wheaty, yeasty, and a hint of banana, but with a uniquely pleasing hoppy bitterness. Not as much of the hop flavor as bitterness, but it worked well. Not worth the price IMO, but if your a wheat locer and a hop lover, then it might very well be.
