Hazy dark amber to orange colored body with a thick, lightly off white head. The aroma is like banana peels with some paper sacks and peaches. There is also a little bit of medicinal quality, but it complements the brew. The taste is strong banana peels with some cloves. There are also some light toasted bread notes. A strange mango type fruit finish is a little off putting. An obviously bigger beer, this still drinks pretty easily. However, the flavors are definitely made for those that like their tropical fruti mixed with the typical hefe flavors. It’s ok, but I would like a more prominent malt backbone. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 21, 2008 Updated: Jan 17, 2009Initial tropical fruit and citrus hop notes are very strong but once that blows off, the yeasty phenolics of clove and banana are nicely apparent in the aroma. Clear and very bubbly deep orange-blonde body is topped by a generous and constantly replenishing, fine bubbled white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Hop flavours of tropical fruit are strong and blend in with the banana and spice notes but there is also a very pleasant underlying pastry-dough-like sweetness. Bitterness is quite pronounced but not at all over the top. Medium-light body has very strong bubbly effervescence that lasts throughout. Very refreshing on an uncharacteristically hot and humid Vancouver afternoon. I could see this really hitting the spot in the muggy summer months in the North-East. Weizen glass. Fridge temperature. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Corked bottle and served in my Schneider Weizenbock glass: The hazy golden beer is topped by a lasting foamy head which left excellent lace upon the glass. Boy do the hops jump out at the nose in the beginning followed by muted hefe characteristics of banana, clove, pepper, lemongrass, wheat husk and bready malts.
The taste is exactly what you expected with a hop bitterness supported by fruity and spicy weizen flavors. Sharp spicy finish and some metallic notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is highly carbonated, sharp with a dry and abit alcoholic finish. Different for sure, these hybrid are sure fun to drink. cgarvieuk (4218), Edinburgh, Scotland

ok on to side by side with its Brother ... more orangy amber ... nose is brighter and more hoppy yeast and pine hop is much more noticible ... sharper edge bit more bitter ... but seems a bit shalower... lots of pine present...although it doesnt seem to have the depth of its brother it just seems to have a bit more kick... 3.8 Skyview (4095), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Sampled from 750 ml bottle supplied by Stine. Pours a hazy dark straw brew with a thick white head that slowly dissipates to a creamy head with some good lacing. Aroma of fruity and citrus hops, some vanilla, banana and a touch of cloves. Taste is smooth, creamy with a hoppy white bread with wheat malt flavor. Finish has a mild bitterness with a light citrus zest and hop aftertaste. A little hoppy for a Weisen bock but very enjoyable. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2008 Thanks to Blake for opening this! Poured hazy paler golden with a fluffy and sticky cap of white head. The aroma picked up sweeter cat pee and floral hoppage over toasted bananas and lighter fruits.. remarkably well balanced. The flavor had toffee and light fruity sweetness supporting quite vibrant floral and grapefruit bitterness.. banana and more of the hops on the back-end.. spicy, warm finish. Heavier-bodied with high carbonation on the palate.. warm on the edges with an estery finish. Excellent! goldtwins (4085), Nesconset, New York, USA

I don’t think I enjoyed this as much as the S-B version, but maybe a bomber was too much.
