Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

750ml bottle from Porterhouse; Thanks a bunch Kevin; wish I asked you for two! Nose of flowery hops, yeasty wheat, cinnamon, and cloves; Hazy copper orange with a big, glass-lacing, pale yellow head; Flavor was light hop bitterness, spices, cloves, bananas, caramel, and yeastiness. Finish was lightly bitter hops and spices!! New #1!!!

This beer was just about perfect to me! Typically I am not a fan of overly hopped beers but this is just fantastic!!!

Swirling, tempestuous activity in a Schneider Edel-Weisse glass... bright yellow brown body with a massive four-finger head--picture perfect... thick, uneven foam is left as tracing... the citrus and banana aromas are compounded by the spruce and pine accents... this promises to be complex and refreshing, if the smell is accurate...medium to full-bodied, light on the tongue but warm on the throat... the head softensits impact... a grainy texture is also noticeable by the third sip... unexpectedly, the combination of killer hops and mega wheat neither nullify nor mutate, but become congruous and complimentary in a delicious marigae... perhaps this one was a winner before the bottle hissed open, but with two brilliant breweries joining forces, the results are predictable and impeccable... cheers.

This is great! A bitter Weisse beer. Difficult to find in Europe. I liked it very much.

Spectacular appearance. Beautiful foggy orange body and delicious creamy head. Attractively appetizing with a strong cool-whip like head. The body is just the same as the head only looks. Beautiful Banana and Clove of the standard Hefe, but a perceptional addition to the standard hefe. Hard citric punch to the back of the tongue.

Pours opaque golden orange with fluffy white head. Aroma of very floral, perfumy hops and sweet citrus, banana and ripe fruits. Just slightly herby. Very light, but full mouthfeel with fluffy carbonation. Sweet citrus flavor to start at the tip of the tongue, grassy hop bitterness and fresh floral hop flavors come out on the middle of the tongue. Light, airy malt base. Finishes with crisp hops grassy and bite, and warming alcohol pepperiness. Alcohol is very present, but not at all obnoxious or overpowering.

750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours a deep, cloudy, glowing orange gold with a very thick, though short-lived, white head that never dissipates completely and leaves a few strings and spots of lace on the glass. The aroma is a big whiff of fresh hop leaves - citrus and freshly-mown grass. After your nose gets through the hops, there are spicy phenolic aromas (allspice), subtle fruit (plums, peaches), and a subtle sweet malt aroma. The flavor starts in a very complex fashion: alcohol, grassy hops, chewy malted wheat, and spices. Fruitiness and funkiness grow as the beer ventures towards mid-tongue. Hop bitterness also grows. The finish is somewhat dry, bitter from both hops and ethanol, and very complex with fruity esters and spicy phenols. The mouthfeel is luxurious - creamy, sudsy and soft, full-bodied, and densely carbonated. Overall, an absolutely awesome beer. I don’t think weizenbock, however, is a remotely suitable appellation. More like an American Strong Ale (tastes more like a Belgian Strong Ale thanks to the funk from the Schneider yeast). Regardless of style, this beer is awesome - a total home run (and it comes only one day after the last home run I tasted: Allagash Hugh Mallone...)

Picked up the 750 at Oak tree. These two master brewers came together to form this uber brew. Wheat beers are my absolute favorite, and this is probably my top at this point. I prefer this over many of the German wheats which I absolute adore. Pours an almost pulsating/glowing orange, with a phenomenal eggshell white head. Smells of citrus and clove, with an allure of alcohol. Deliciously smooth and tempting texture, and the carbonation dances no your tongue. But the flavors are so complex, the hops come kicking back in just when you think the smooth wheat is leaving. Definitely tastes of bananas and cloves. Will buy again, VERY soon.
