Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

This beer poured very dark and had a lot of whole hop petals floating in it. It was very strong in hop aroma. This beer had head retention like only Guiness can rival. This beer was truly unlike any beer I have ever tasted. This is a must for hop lovers and Hefeweizen lovers alike. This beer at first was almost only hop flavor, but by the end of the glass it was clear that the dry hops blended very well with the Hefeweizen

Slightly cloudy golden straw with a fizzy rocky head. Nice spicey hop aroma with some wheat and grain notes and some citrusy hop aroma. Sweet malt flavor with spicey hop and yeast phenolics of clove and allspice. Nice spicey hop finish with a bit of alchohol warming. I need to get another couple bottles to just to make sure I rated this right :)

A combination of hoppiness and an unfiltered weisse that is amazing. I love this combination and this might be one of my favorite beers by Brooklyn. There is a distinct smell of hops from first whiff, but they are not overwhelming, allowing the entire beer to be balanced perfectly. A strong 8.5%.

Big American hop aroma, with tons of citrus working with the bananas and cloves of the yeast. Smooth wheat flavor, and the hops work well with it. Super smooth body (it was a year old), with a perfect mouth feel. Big fruit flavor: melon, banana, cherry, pear. Very complex and supremely original, even if I liked the German-made one better.

Pours orange with a tall white head. Aroma is dominated by amarillo hops, very yeasty as well. The flavour is very fresh starting out very citrus, like a standard wheat beer, then it takes a crazy left turn and finishes tasting like a dopple bock with all of the rich bready character, And very alcpholic in the finish. This is a great beer, very interesting. excellent palate. Very Very cool.

Pours a thick apple juice color that looks like thick chicken broth. Banana and wheat malt smell somewhat spicy with a bubblegum aroma. Thick soupy wheat grain taste, spicy with pepper, and an astringent sour finish. Full bodied wheat soup resin feel and has lively soft carbonation with the alcohol finish. Completely surprised although impressed with the balance.

750ml bottle: Pours a slightly cloudy yellow orange with a white head, complex aroma with banana, cloves, pine, grapefruit and bubblegum. Starts and ends lightly bitter, ample carbonation, medium bodied, crisp ending with yeasty banana at the end.

I hope I’m rating the correct one - I sampled this at the 2007 Brewgrass festival and the tap handle cleary said "Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse" Anyway, Really nice aroma, very spicy and clovey and banana-y and even a touch of rosemary? Maybe? Plenty flavorful, too - very yeasty, and also spicy and fruity, and a nice dry finish. For a large beer, it’s surprisingly light on the tounge, kind of like a 300 pound guy who is a surprisingly good dancer.
