Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Bottle, 75cl. Pours an unclear amber beer with a white head. The aroma is fruit, spices and sweet. The flavor is fruit, banana, sweetness with notes of coriander. The palate is dry and sweet. Overall a really good beer.

750ml corked bottle. Pours a translucent pale golden yellow with an enormous white head. The head lasts throughout the entire experience. The aroma has some intense bouquets of orange rinds with some sweet notes of caramel and fruits. There are a lot of grassy notes and spices as well. The initial flavour is a blast of spices, grass, and hops. As the brew passes, a multitude of flavour assaults your palate. A balance of sweet rolls, caramel, hops, lemon, banana, orange, orange rind, spices, and grass all mingle together extremely well. It’s pretty sweet, but the hops give it a nice balance so it’s not too sweet. The banana, caramel, and sweet roll flavours give it a nice roundness while the hops, lemon, orange, and orange rind give it some good sharpness. And the spices add a little more complexity. The finish is lightly bitter but is, overall, smooth and a little sweet. For a wheat beer, this is huge and complex.

Pours a cloudy golden orange with a substantial off-white head that retains well. The banana-clove complex is paired beautifully with tropical citrus, aromatic yeast and hop resin in the nose. The flavour is crisp, yet robust and is ripe with wheat, clove, pear, mango and bitter, floral hop flavours. The hoppiness paired with the typical wheat flavours is very intriging. It finishes very dry with surprisingly long palate duration. It has a well matched medium body with effervescent carbonation.

750 bottle corked and caged opened with a loud pop. poured into a weizen glass has a yellow golden hazy color and fairly hefty carbonation. the smell of the sweet dry hops is apparent as it was being poured. schneider banana yeast, honey, aromatic citrus hops, grass, clove, a hit of mango, and pepper. mouth feel is medium but has a great texture. flavor starts peppery, then moves to a banana yeast with floral, honey sweetness, malt, and fantastic hops. the schneider trademark yeast really shines against the wheat and hops side. spiced just right and finishes with sweetness and then turns dry with hop spice and a long duration. lots of flavors to keep your interest, nicely done bottle design, and a quality cork.

Tasted from a bottle at GOBF, knocked my socks off. It had notes of citrus, hops, with emphasis on lemony character. It’s finish was clean and a bit tart. Good beer, I wish it was more readily available.

Part of a back log. Bottle. Translucent yellow with a white head. Very interesting mix of flavors. There is a certain banana and vanilla that is apparent before some of the bitterness takes over. Certainly a strong flavor, but it is fairly available and highly recommended.

Bottle @ GOBF 08. Pours a semi-hazed golden/deep amber with a craggy white head, laces the glass nicely. Yum, I’m pretty sure the huge aromatic hops here are amarillo (smells much like the Chouffe tripel/IPA), but just huge upfront floral and slight citrus hops on top of a solid banana bread, fruity, sweet malty base, cloves and other spices dance behind the immense hop whiff. Hoppy, well rounded, spicy wheat, citrus, nice bitter end kick. Full-bodied and good carbonation, not too sweet. A great and interesting strong wheat beer. So balanced. I def need to try the Schneider version.
