Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

ABV: 8.5% RateBeer rating: 97 Calories: estimated at 400 C Volume: 25.4 fl oz. Glass: weizen Purchased at: Oak Tree Buy Rite, South Plainfield, NJ (Thanks, Jay) Price: $11.99 Consumed at: home First Impression: The !@#$%^ thing is a gusher. Let me think about how much this cost as I clean it up off my keyboard. Aroma is almost purely hops and alcohol, with a fruit undertone. Visuals are a thick wheaty cloud with little to no head. Taste is absolutely delicious - hoppy, banana, apple, peach, and a great deep finish. Palate is a long bitter finish and a crisp, dry palate. Second Impression - I just wish the damn thing didn’t spray all over. I can’t stand gushers, especially when they are expensive, and it seems like they are always expensive. Presentation: It was poured from brown 1pint 9.4oz bottle into a weizen glass. I did not notice a freshness date on the bottle. Appearance: It has a deep hazy orange colored body with lots of visible carbonation. The head is off white in color, tall, thick and creamy. The head is long lasting and makes lots of slick lacing on the glass. Smell: It has a light pleasant aroma of wheat, a light wisp of clove, subtle fruity yeast and just a very subtle hint of smokiness. Taste/Mouth Feel: The flavor starts with a big tangy wheat and grain base that adds fruity and spicy yeast notes of banana and clove as well as some citrus notes from the hops. The hops really stand out in the finish which becomes dry and has solid bitterness for the style. It has a full body and the texture is thick and chewy with a heavy well rounded mouth feel. Its carbonation is very active and cleansing on the palate. Notes: Outstanding!!!

Bottle 7 C, 20091028 It was high pressure in that bottle, ater the cork had disappered I put the thing on the table - after 5 sec it started to spurt. No wonder the fermentation (0,5 cm 1/2 a year storage) was mixed in! AR.: yeast, strawberry, apricot AP: weize cloudy, mostly lasting rocky head F: yeast, strawberry, apricot, german äppelmos, medium strong bitterness - long lasting finishing. I can recommend this Weisse, but be careful while opening!

Sampled from a 25.4 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was a lovely complex mix of fruit cocktail and a hint of spice. The flavor was richly complex blend of strong sweet and tart fruit cocktail, with light dry spices underneath. A tart spicy and fruity finish lingers forever. The body was sweet and full. Wonderful.

Sampled at the 2007 BrewGrass Festival. Pours hazy straw-onion skin color with a HUGH frothy white head. Aroma was very pleasing with grasses, fresh light citrus, hints of herb and yeast. Well balanced flavor! Just WOW! I really did not have the words for this one and it was early in the festival. Grassy, light caramel or fruit and wheat grains, citrus, yeast, spice. Creamy full mouth feel. I really wanted to drink it all day. This was the surprise of the day for me and it blew me away. I may have over rated this a bit but I just could not believe that I liked this style so much. The best wheat beer I’ve ever had.

My brother in law got me a bottle of this for my 30th birthday, wow! Knock your socks off beer. It opens taste buds that I never experienced with wheat beer previously. A little bit banana, a bit robust hop, a bit citrus, a lot of great! Highly recommended!

Pours murky golden/brown, with a big foamy white head. Like the previous version it has a huge aroma of fresh grassy/herbal hops, with floral notes, huge fruity esters, and lots of spice. Lots of spicy notes, and huge grassy/herbal hops right upfront. Basically it’s almost identical to the previous, but just slightly more awesome.
