Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Bottle. Medium sized white fizzy head with good retention, cloudy straw body, and a ring of lacing. The aroma is sweet, clove, banana, spicy, citrus hops. The flavor is sweet, clove, spicy, banana, mango, citrus hops, and mildly bitter. The mouthfeel is tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, a very balanced aroma/flavor, worthy of a try, and a beer I would drink again. More please!

750ml bottle - pours a dark yellow/hazy orange with a huge creamy white head that lingers - good display of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, apricot, peach, banana, wheat, and spice. Taste was yeasty, banana, and a mix of the other fruits previously listed - also quite wheaty. Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Nice mixture of a lot of things going on - solid weizen.

Bottle. Pours a hazy, orange color with a extremely large, dense, frothy white head. The lacing is exceptionally strong as well. Aromas of citrus, hay, banana, and floral. Palate is lively to start with an oily texture, then quickly turns into a soft, clean finish. Taste is bananas, citrus hops, and melon toward the end. A fantastic beer that I will be sure to enjoy again in the future!

Now THIS is a Hefeweizen!!! I have always thought that Hef’s were too flat and bland, and that the wheat flavor needed some major hops and it would create a unique combination of flavors that could make a great beer. I had given up on the style until I found this oasis in the desert. Brooklyn and Schneider have done an amazing collaboration here. Dry hopping a wheat beer? Come on! This beer also looks amazing in the glass... a turbid orange, it looks very rich and inviting. Has a very full body and a very fruity sweet flavor balanced with nice dry finishing hops. I love this beer.

On tap at the Rake, May 2009. Does pretty much what it says on the tin – a hopped up wheat beer. I also detected some volatile gluey notes in the aroma and some rather odd smoky notes. But it was certainly an interesting, and unusual, take on a wheat beer. For which it gains credit from me.

pours a crisp yellow gold with huge white head. aroma is just spilling juicyfruit gum, sugars and a little banana. drinks very sweet and bubbly with juicyfruit gum being a very predominant flavor but also sweet malts and light candied sugars. finishes quick and dry with a fruity after taste.

750 ML Bottle in USA. Huge spicy hoppy nose. Pours cloudy orange with a thick white head. Good citrus flavors, wheaty, and good German weizen yeast qualities, but there’s a big hoppy presence which I feel is out of place, spicy and citrusy. Very good.
