Commercial Description:
Brooklyner Weisse is a Bavarian-style wheat beer, unfiltered and chock full of spicy esters that evoke hints of cloves and fruit, some say even bananas. The beer is made with a traditional weizen yeast strain. The malt mix is half malted wheat and half barley malt. The hops are Perle, from Germany. Bitterness is low to medium.

12oz bottle obtained at Whole Foods in Portland, Maine. Pours crystal-clear deep amber body (after carefully decanting) with a half inch of off-white head. Smells estery - banana and nut jump out - with a slight hint of tart fruitiness. Tastes like banana, nut, and clove, with a nice smooth transition to a slightly sour dry bite toward the finish. Aqueous light body with moderate carbonation. Extremely drinkable with nothing but pleasant balanced flavors to compliment the light refreshing body. Probably even better mit hefe - guess I’ll try that on the next bottle. Still one of the best hefeweizens I’ve had.

Hazy yellow with a huge head. Flavour of banana, bubblegum and cloves (classic weizen). The flavour is very sweet with a bit of saltiness.

Bottled, 355ml from Bellingers Garage, Grove, Oxon. Hazed gold with white head. Initially rather thinnish and the wheat character is reluctant to show itself, however; on sticking with it there is a clove, corriander spiciness with an estery pear drop note. It remains thin on the palate, but the flavours give it enough interest to make it worthwhile. It’s ok.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a very frothy, white head. The aromas are of bananas, cloves, bubble-gum, and yeast. Tastes a bit tangy then sweetmalt with lots of clove and spiciness. Very crisp and clean.

Bottle. Pours a murky browned gold with a medium sized white head. Light phenols, bread, little bit of clove, bit of caramel. Medium bodied, a bit sweet. Finishes up with again a touch of spicy clove, a scant hint of banana, and a touch of yeast.

31.10.2009, 0,33l Bottle. Dark golden colour with white dissapering head. Aroma is wheatmalt. There is not so much flavour in this one. Its smooth and soft, not lemony and bitter as it shoud be.

Draft at redlight redlight. A subdued German style wheat. The nose is floral with hints of tropical fruit. The flavor is mild, crisp, and pretty nice. Maybe a little too subdued for advocates of hefeweizens, but as I don’t drink them very often I like it.
