Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
NOTE: The Cask version has a separate listing.
Medium-bodied, with a subtle hop aroma, on the palate this luxurious beer has a deep, full flavour which balances a toasty maltiness, mild bitterness, and a hint of sweet herbs. It finishes clean and mostly dry, but with a faintly subtle sweetness.

500 mL bottle, bbe May 07. Transparent and dark brown with red highlights. Medium head that lasts, with some sudsy lace. Aroma is leathery and metallic-sour molasses. Taste is similar, with some dark fruit notes. Maybe a hint of smoke and cocoa, and finishing with some dryish lemon-herb hops. Palate is smooth and slightly watery; medium bodied.

Rated 2/9/07: Best before Nov. of ’07, enjoyable ale but I got a bit of a metallic hint in the aroma and flavor. Dark ruby pour nice frothy light tan head, moderate lacing. Rich malty aroma, a touch of sweet and bitter then that metallic effect. Rich and full this has a nice creamy feel to it. Flavor is nice and heavy on the malt. A slight hint of sweet fruits backed by a real nice hop bitterness. A touch of smoke and dark malt in the end. Pretty wide spectrum in the flavor, this is good but for the cash I’ll most likely look elsewhere.

Great dark brown color, some ruby tones in there. Little to no head. Good aroma, strong, a slight bourbon note. Taste is good, mild at first, bitter on the back end. Decent carbonation. Lots of flavor in here. Chocloate, hops, a little fruity, mildly acidic. After taste is bitter, which I like. Refreshing overall. I’d like to taste a fresh bottle of this or perhaps on tap. Pretty good.

500 Ml bottle-pours black w/a moderate brown head. This beer had a little more Hops than I expected, thought it kind of got in the way of the malt. Did have a somewhat roasted malt flavor, but thought it was kind of a confused beer, kind of all over the place. Had some carbonation & lacing, too much for an ESB. Wasn’t bad, just a little confused. Long carbonated finish.

The color is dark and the head is huge and impressing. The aroma has dark fruits and roasted malt, which I also find in the flavour, that has a nicely balanced bitterness, and this beer is really nice, I think.

(500ml bottle, best by end 11/07, thanks kegoguinness) Clear dark copper body topped by large, rocky beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel/butterscotch, some smoke. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel/toffee, some chocolate, nutty, light smoke, earthy, faint metallic. Watery light-medium body, nicely drinkable.

Pours dark reddish brown with ruby hues and a mostly receding wispy tan head. Aroma of earthy caramel and toffee, gingerbread, rye bread. Taste is malty and sweet with notes of toffee, chocolate, and earthy fuggles. Mouthfeel is full bodied with lush carbonation and a slightly metallic mineral taste. This is quite nice, I’ve been liking these earthy/malty/hoppy English ales.

Dark chestnut brown with a thick tan head. This beer is bursting with maltiness! Brown bread, brown sugar, and a subtle earthiness. Medium sweetness with a dry finish and a creamy mouthfeel. I loved this! Aside from the lower alcohol content, this had more features of a bock than an ESB to me, but it doesn’t matter-- it’s a great beer!
