Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Medium-bodied, with a subtle hop aroma, on the palate this luxurious beer has a deep, full flavour which balances a toasty maltiness, mild bitterness, and a hint of sweet herbs. It finishes clean and mostly dry, but with a faintly subtle sweetness.

Reddish black pour. Little caramel, nuttiness in the aroma. Light body with some caramel malt, some citrus.

Pours brown amber. Smell is sour peatiness. Taste is awful, sourish, peaty and gross. Light carbonation and medium body. In short, awful beer.

1/30/2008: Broughton Black Douglas has a clear pecan brown appearance and a sharp aroma. The beer is creamy its flavors include cranberry and a strong maltiness. There seems to be plenty of hop flavor, but the beer really isn’t bitter. It just kind os falls off at theend. It has a medium-light body. I think that this beer could be better, but there is just something wierd about it...

1 pint .9 fl. oz. bottle. Rating #227 for this beer.

Pours a clear ruby-brown with a lovely tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is very estery - fruity and yeasty and inviting. Taste is surprisingly bitter. Not bad! I was expecting something cloyingly sweet, as this bills itself as a traditional scottish ale on the bottle. Lightly toasted malt, lightly fruity, finishing on a nice bitter lightly roasted note. Thick and creamy with light carbonation. Not ungood!

Deep ruby red color with a thick tan head. Nutty aroma with lightly sweet pale malts. Smooth medium body. Lightly sweet cracker malt flavors with a nicely bitter hop bite to finish.

Bella storia

Dark amber with a thick white head. Roasted caramel malt aroma. Flavor is sweet caramel malts with a touch of buttery toffee. Mildly bitter finish. Soft on the palate. Not bad.
