Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Medium-bodied, with a subtle hop aroma, on the palate this luxurious beer has a deep, full flavour which balances a toasty maltiness, mild bitterness, and a hint of sweet herbs. It finishes clean and mostly dry, but with a faintly subtle sweetness.

[bottle--thanks cgreb] Spicy melanoidiny caramel aroma with some scotch tape and a faint whiff of smoke. Ruddy brown with a thin, almost white film and ring. Nice burnt toffee flavour with some bitter walnut and sherry notes. Fruit comes in later...lots of it, including cherry. Quite toasty, as well. Medium body, medium carbonation, nutty bitter finish that is sort of dry-ish.

500ml bottle picked up at Luvians I St Andrews. Malt-accented beer with a creamy, off-white head resting over a ruby dark body. Smell of bready malts. Flavoured by malt with nuances of dark fruits, ending with bittersweet notes. Soft carbonated [30.10.2008].

Bottled 50cl. It pours a dark chestnut colored beer with an excellent head retention. The head itself is lightly tanned and nicely creamy. Beautiful lacework. The nose is of malt, candy floss, honey and coffee. Pleasantly smoky. Slightly medicinal. Very nice sweet malty flavor. Full bodied. Perfectly balanced. Woody, smoky with hints of mince pies and raisins. Lightly sour and salty. Low bitterness. Wonderful finish with hints of licorice, aniseed, pumpernickel and heather. Flawless and deeply pleasant.

Bottle, thanks to Craig aka cgarvieuk for this beer in my Cropredy swap box, cheers mate! As the commercial description on the bottle states this pours dark ruby with great clarity and a light tan head. Bit nutty tasting, toasty sweet malts, tasting much like an autumnal beer. Some bitterness comes through on the 2nd and 3rd sips. A nice beer, once again cheers to Craig.

Bottle from Sams in Chicago. Pours a dark red colored body with a thick light brown head. The aroma is very nice; strawberries, currants, toasted malts, and some metal. The taste was also quite good; a sweet and natural berry flavor, some dry toasted malts, a hint of caramel and chocolates, and overall a nice full mouthfeel. A slight bitterness in the finish. A very enjoyable beer. Perfect for this style.
