Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Medium-bodied, with a subtle hop aroma, on the palate this luxurious beer has a deep, full flavour which balances a toasty maltiness, mild bitterness, and a hint of sweet herbs. It finishes clean and mostly dry, but with a faintly subtle sweetness.

golden/caramel amber color. aroma is herbal and earthy with mild sweet malt and some wood. roasted malt, toffee and nutty characters hide behind a mostly bitter flavor. medium bodied with a dry hoppy finish...

Poured a deep amber with an agressive, creamy chocolate head. An aroma of peppery hops dominated the nose. Upon drinking I found a nice mingling of very understated caramel and toffee, with perhaps just a hint of cinnamon or ginger, along with smoke and barley notes. The hops coming through in the finish are perfectly modulated to balance out the light sweetness on the palate. Quite a nice ale.

500ml bottle. Clear, dark copper with a rocky beige head. Sweet, malty nose, wisps of smoke, some caramel and light toffee. Medium to thin body, rather dry. Medium bitter flavors, caramel and toffee, bitter chocolate notes. Very drinkable.

16.9oz bottle - This beer is a little hard to place by style. It’s somewhere between the ESB the ratebeer entry shows and a Scottish ale. It pours dark ruby with a one finger head that leaves some good lacing. The aroma is roast caramel malt and a touch of dark fruit. By aroma and appearance I’m thinking Scottish ale. Since the aroma only has a trace of hops, the moderately hopped up flavor and pleasantly bitter and dry finish is surprising. The toasty malts are still there to balance it out, but the hops provide an enjoyable bite. The one main drawback is that this beer is a little watery. Definitely let it warm to better enjoy the robust flavors.

Pours a dark black with a white head. Has hints of nuts, roasted malts, wood, and some spices. Finishes with a thin dry sweet hop taste on the tongue.

Nice pour of deep wooden amber, and an initially soapy 2-finger head, diminishes after a while into thick, soapy, lathering lace. The nose is of toast, caramel and toffee. The flavors are a bit dry, with toasted grains, an essence of caramel, and a decent biscuit-hop back-palate. Nicely bitter finish, and a medium-light mouthfeel... an overall dryness to the brew, and not a bad offering.

500 mL bottle, bbe May 07. Transparent and dark brown with red highlights. Medium head that lasts, with some sudsy lace. Aroma is leathery and metallic-sour molasses. Taste is similar, with some dark fruit notes. Maybe a hint of smoke and cocoa, and finishing with some dryish lemon-herb hops. Palate is smooth and slightly watery; medium bodied.
