Aroma was of roasted malt sweetness, peat, caramel. Flavor was the same and nicely balanced. Mouthfeel was pleasant, pretty full-bodied. I enjoyed this ale, and it would make a nice session beer.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2009 The aroma is almost all malt, but in a good way. Some caramel and a bit of wood. Super smooth drinking. Nice amber red color. Hops are spruce and resiny. Very nice. Quite a bit more bitter than I was expecting. There is a taste of just ripe pear and some oak. The finish is nice and long. Alcohol is nicely warming. A very drinkable beer that I’ll be returning to. bhensonb (4387), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber with a creamy light tan head. Aromas of brownly roasted caramel and light floral hop. Medium body with sharp, near creamy carbonation. Not all that hoppy. More malty. Finishes with a touch of lightly cooked fruit. Dryish, but not very bitter. A bit of wood seems to come forth. stouby (1956), Holbaek, Denmark

Mahogany with a light brown head. Aroma moderate malty (caramel, roasted, brown sugar, a note of smoke?), light hoppy. Light body. Delicious.
