Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
This exceptional ale is brewed to the exacting standards required by the Soil Association Certification Ltd. of the United Kingdom. The malt is prepared from Organically grown Scottish barley. The hops are grown in New Zealand where the absence of pests means high quality hops can be grown organically. The pure water comes from the rolling Scottish Border hills. The end result is a light golden coloured beer full of flavour and aroma. A refreshing clean tasting beer with an excellent hop aroma and aftertaste.

Bottle from Sinsbury’s. Clear golden colour with persistent white head. Friuty apricot aroma. Good mouthfeel for a pasteurised beer but the taste is a little sweet. Finishes tartly sweet. Not bad.

bottled and labelled just Border Gold; from Fête de la BIère 2005, Lausanne - clear amber-gold colour with a decent head and a nice lacing, the aroma is mainly flowery but caramel and litchies come to mind too, robust and clean malt palate, a tart bitterness imposes itself before a long dry malty and decently hoppy finish

Good colour with a thinnish white head that leaves nice rings on the way down. Pronounced hoppy aroma, and they make a major appearance again on the palate, there is however a noticable sugary sweetness on the finish which spoils it a bit for me. A nice brew from the Borders, but not Broughtons best. Tesco/bottle.

Hazy golden colour with a small white head. Malty, light hoppy aroma. Sweet malty flavor, light fruity and with a hoppy bitter finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Fully golden, slightly hazy ale with an impressive, huge and very stable head. Quite sweetish and aromatic with only a vey discreet bitterness. A rather surprising and different ale which is also stronger than the typical Scottish ale. And the storytelling on these Broughton bottles is simply great. 190304

Bought in a 500 ml Bottle. Dark golden ale with a massive frothy, bubbly pure white head. A very perfumy/ flowery aroma.Light buttery undertones. Thick ,sweet almost like the old Football Chews candy I used to get as a child in Scotland. No bitterness to speak off.Alcohol well hidden. its quite thick and smooth for its style. Not a bad beer but to be honest one is enough for me..more and i fear it would become cloying

Looks very much like an English bitter, the aroma is gentle hops with a hint of malts, and the flavour is quite strongly dry with a sweetish finish. Overall OK.
