Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water; Malted Barley; Hops.
A blend of two beers: A strong ale, warming and malty, combined with a Porter style ale with rich roasted malt characters on a background of good hop flavour and aroma. The two beers are brewed and fermented separately then blended together in a warm conditioning vessel to allow the two ales to mature.

Bottle. [Another great tasting session @ Papsoe] Small creamy beige head that mostly diminished. Mahogany sparkling body. Spare lacework. Light toasted malty aroma, hint of fruit, grain, and caramel. Light hoppy notes as well. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Light sweet and bitter flavor in balance. Light toasted malty and light bitter finish. 6 / 3 / 6 / 3 / 14

50 cl bottle. Dark clear colour with a nice head. Malty aroma with notes of burned caramel. Smooth flavour of malt, caramel and some fruitness. Not much for an old ale.

From the bottle this pours a dark brown with no head and a cola-like carbonation in the beginning, although this gradually subsides. Creamy, sweet caramel and tobacco aromas with roasted, dark chocolate notes. None of these are too obvious at the start but come across well once it beer has aired slightly. Rich burnt malt and chocolate flavours coat the palate. These flavours are comitted to the tongue with a creamy texture. All of these qualities make for a delicious ale that’s varied and especially pleasant on a cool night.

Bottled@Poirotti’s Skotoberfest 2007. Dark ruby red colour with a bubbly head, that vanishes quickly. Aroma is caramel malts, flowery hops, with some oaky hints as well as slight smoke and dark chocolate. Flavour is quite much the same along with some slight milder spices in it. Refreshing and quite nice.

500ml bottle (Poirotti, Helsinki, Skotoberfest 2007)
Very dark red, almost black. Lively head, but it fades quickly. Sweet chocolately malt aroma, slightly smoky too. Very carbonated, perhaps too much so. Slightly sour malty taste, pleasantly hopped, not excessively so. Quite full-bodied and well-rounded.

Bottle, 500ml. A dark black colour with a large brown head. Aroma is malty with cherry and floral hops. Taste is roasted malt with cocoa, a little floral hop and some hint of coriander. A burnt, citric, herbal finish. Nice, but not outstanding.

Inky black colour, a slightly off white head, lots of blackcurrant and some caramel with some roast malts in the background, quite tangy and very smooth.

Bottle 500ml. Pours a good ruby colour with a medium tan head. Quite a fruity aroma, with hints of coffee coming through. The flavours were interesting; quite a rummy background with dark roast coffee taste coming through. A pleasant hoppy finish to it with a lingering bitterness. Not a session ale.
