Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Water; Malted Barley; Hops.
A blend of two beers: A strong ale, warming and malty, combined with a Porter style ale with rich roasted malt characters on a background of good hop flavour and aroma. The two beers are brewed and fermented separately then blended together in a warm conditioning vessel to allow the two ales to mature.

Looks great - deep, deep red with thick cream head, Aroma roast malt, dried fruit. Definitely porterish but with a distinctly aged character, smooth and slightly smoky. Like dark toffee with fruit and nuts in it. Good stuff.

STBF07. This was labeled as Kilnmount Willie however it was defo 5.5% and tasted like an old ale. Vinous wood, hints of age and spice. Taste is blackberry tart, paistry, fruity and current tartness.

500ml bottle from Tesco, Camberley. Reddish chestnut body with a short-lived beige head; toffe aromas; and a toffee flavour with malts and nuts present; a warming aftertaste; smooth and well-balanced.

(Bottle BBE 02/2008; Thanks Paavo!) Roasted malty, chocolate and slightly licorice aroma. Dark brown red colour and average size, brownish, very slightly lasting head with fair/good lacing. Chocolate, roasted malty, slightly bitter and licorice flavour. Softly carbonated, dry and medium-bodied palate. Smooth and well balanced ale! 05/04/07

Encouragingly stouty deep ruby pour with well-retained beige suds. More than a sniff of bitter chocolate and sappy beechwood smokiness. Silky smoked malt roastiness and a hint of hop. Carries its ABV with smoothness and poise. Stirs dewy-eyed reminiscences of both Aecht Shlenkerla Rauchbier Marzen and Theakston Old Peculiar. And you can’t ask for more than that.

Pretty good for a Jock ale (sweaties usually brew up a load of auld shit!) Dark brown, come black colour, described as a porter on the bottle (along with some old twaddle about some Scotch knights that’s probably all made up), but tasted more stouty to me. A touch malty and sweet, but quite a bit of bitter dryness with some carbonation, all of which I hence approve. Overall, pretty good and a pleasant surprise.
