Deep tawny chestnut with an arguably attractive thick pad of whipped cream that held out and frosted down the entire glass. Deep, dry, peaty malt, cocoa and dried, zingy berries in the aroma. Similarly deep peaty malt palate with a nice earthiness to it that gave it a gritty mouthfeel. Noticeable showing of extracted tannins gives it a tang, aided by some soft cherry and cola zest before it slips passed the tonsils with very little bitterness. Finish has some peat and toasted malts with just a touch of ash lingering in the mouth afterwards. This was quite nice in peak form, the body is not overly big so it could easily be downed in quick succession. Not bad at all. Nekronos (2265), Xalapa, Mexico

Not the best of the 80/- style, but then it’s not the worst. 80/- beers are not complex beers at all, but this needs more. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

Aroma is malty to a seriously wholemeal loaf level, with dough and a little smokey barnyard aswell. Taste is similar with roasted malts having thier say too. As it warms theres maybe coffee off this too as im drinkin as im rating tonite. An intresting little ale, but could be a whole lot better if made to about 6% and with more care. fiulijn (7460), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy

The aroma contains slight hints of cowberries as well as alcohol. The flavor is primarily of alcohol, that dries out the mouth combined with some metal notes during the beginning, and then turning into a end where cowberries take over.
