Dark, malty brew, no head and a tad of bog in it too. mountainforest (111), Edinburgh, Scotland

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Freshly tapped cask, handpump @ the Rook & Gaskill Inn, York, Nth Yorkshire.
Deep tawny chestnut with an arguably attractive thick pad of whipped cream that held out and frosted down the entire glass. Deep, dry, peaty malt, cocoa and dried, zingy berries in the aroma. Similarly deep peaty malt palate with a nice earthiness to it that gave it a gritty mouthfeel. Noticeable showing of extracted tannins gives it a tang, aided by some soft cherry and cola zest before it slips passed the tonsils with very little bitterness. Finish has some peat and toasted malts with just a touch of ash lingering in the mouth afterwards. This was quite nice in peak form, the body is not overly big so it could easily be downed in quick succession. Not bad at all. Fukito (604), Buenos Aires, Argentina

Clear, shinny ruby color with a small, compact beige head. Deep, dark crystal malts flavor with some very slight dried fruits notes. Medium palate, rounded. Neutral aroma, some plummy notes. Ok, ruby, caramelly ale. Nekronos (2265), Xalapa, Mexico

Malty nose with dark fruit and nuts. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark fruit, prunes, raisins and a fairly dry finish with hints of coffee. Decent beer, but doesn’t really leave a lasting impression. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA

Plums, leaves and chocolate aroma. Soft caramel flavor, marmalade and roast, pithy hop bitterness. Something weedy about this in the first few sips seemed to pass, and ended up at least pleasant.
