the aftertaste is rather dry type for a bitter / ale ... shoestring (187), larkhall, Scotland

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2007 500ml bottle - Pours light amber and rather fizzy with a thin, lingering head. It smells lightly of caramel malt, hops, and a little dark fruit. The flavor is moderately bitter and more watery than I expected. It has a pleasantly bitter finish. It’s alright, but for the price (4.50/bottle at the liquor store) I expected better. Maria (6312), Thisted, Denmark
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | May 5, 2007 The head is OK on this hazy, amber beer. The aroma has notes of fermented fruit. The flavour has notes of roasted malt, fermented apple, honey and it has a weird harshness in the finish. I suspect that the bottle either isn’t like it should be or perhaps Merlin didn’t use the right herbs and ingredients for this one... harrisoni (6830), Ashford, Kent, England

Filtered and Pasteurised so not expecting a lot. Floral hoppy bitter, just no mlat though. Empty candy sugar in the mouth. Floral hop on end is fine, but rest is just so empty and disappointing. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 24, 2007 Has a roasty front end with a fairly bitter finish. The after-taste lingers, which made me want to move onto the next tasting. Cool bottle, but not hte session beer I was hoping for. According to my cousin Bard, "after having this I need a Whiskey Sour."
