Scottish Ales are usually not on my list due to their ash-tray flavor qualities. However, this jocky was pretty tasty. Poured a nice reddish-amber. Smelt slightly smoked and had great robust flavor. This beer should be served room -temp. Changed my perspective totally. After a bottle of this Scottish brew i found myself in a Hagas eating contest with a forehead full of blood from too many Glaskow kisses!! OYYYA! Magicdave6 (5520), London, Greater London, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 11, 2005 appearance is nice darker than expected with large head, nice. Aroma is malty, slightly bready, stable maybe. Taste is not as complex as expected for a beer of this strength, alcohol well hidden. Would like to try it again. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark chestnut color with a medium sized creamy tan head. The aroma is sweet, tangy and has a strong note of molasses. The flavor is strong molasses with tangy ripe fruits underneath. There is a deep malty molasses finish. I will be coming back to this beer again. CampbellWilson (533), Scotland

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2005 Freed from it’s glass enclousure, Old Jock pours a clear caramel-y brown color, with lush, creamy head. Nice enough lookin’...
Aroma, nuts, dark fruits, creamy malt, but all lightly played, nothing too stand-out.
Crisp, clean taste, malt dominant, same dark flavors from the nose, return on the tongue...plus a hint of maple and molasses, a trickle of treacly caramel and toffee, berries and grapes. An easy drinker, too, quite smooth, passes past the lips with remarkable fastidiousness.
Medium bodied, faint, fruity finish.
A good bottle of brew, but nothing to knock your Granny over to get.
