I guess they found this one somewhere and called it "cellared" for 5 years. Im not complaining. Aroma: amazing, very complex, with notes of apricots, wine, sour grapes, cherry. Flavor: Lots of flavors here, speaks to being aged for 5 years, very complex, sweet malt, sugary fruit, smokey scotish ale. I was damn impressed. Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2004 Large frothy head, rapidly diminishing to a nice sheet of lace. Clear reddish amber in colour. Nose is lightly malted with a bit of fruityness (cherries?). Flavour is malty, slightly acidic with dried fruits and some subtile anise really comming through in the aftertaste. Alcohol is nearly absent except in the finish. I would have expected more malt from the Scottish, regardless, quite a good drinking ale especially with this abv. Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA

The aroma is malty and cherry-toned. Likewise, the flavor is sweet and fruity, accompanied by a nice smooth body. Nice. BückDich (4854), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2004 Dark red mahogany color with a light cap of head and a little lace. The aroma is full of nuts and fig with some roast & calamata olives and some malty cherry notes. The flavor is well balanced with some semisweet charactaristics, nicely caramelized. The finish is well rounded and balanced as well. This is a pretty good beer, some balanced complexities but nothing too outragous. Semi-session you could say. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2004 Bottled. Amber with a fine white head. Bitter hops sharpen a malt base. The palate and flavour created from the hops is more astringent then bitter. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2003 Ruby color and tan head. Aroma reminds of whiskey and some fruit and woody tones. Flavor was good. Full and satisfying. mribm (419), Hurley, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 7, 2003 500 ml. bottle. Pours a deep copper brown color with a medium sized light tan head which quickly dissipated. The nose was of malt and caramel and a slight whiskey aroma. The flavor was primarily rich and malty with malts lingering in the finish. This is a good Scottish Ale.
