Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

500 ml bottle. I thought this tasted a bit ’old’ and to my surprise the neck reveals best by December 2004! So five years beyond then I drink this tasty beer. A pure black pour with a thick white head and lacing down the glass. The aroma is mostly chocolates, a sour roasted aroma as well. The flavor is easygoing; a mix between a sour roasted malt. chocolate, light fruity hops. Probably a bit different than a fresh one, but still nice. The mouthfeel was a bit thin. Overall, nice.

Powerful deep dark nose. Pours dark brown with a disappearing head. Flavour is gentle at first but develops well with some coffee, chocolate and asparagus (weirdly). Mouthfeel a little watery but pleasant enough. A nice little stout.

Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head and a nice bit of oily lace on the side of the glass. Aroma of nice mellow malt, caramel, nuts, marshmallows and even some soap. Medium-bodied; Sweet mellow flavour with a subtle nuttiness tucked in with the malt and a touch of effervescent alcohol flavours. Aftertaste is mild considering the style, but the ABV makes sense with this - very light in all senses. Overall, a good light sweet stout - much more mild than most other Oatmeals - but good to try. While I can get it here stateside, this 50 cL bottle was purchased at McHughes Off-License in Killbarrack, Dublin, Ireland on 20-February-2009, sampled on the other side of the sea at home in Washington on 28-April-2009 when the Capitals advance to the 2nd round of the NHL Playoffs!

Pours mahogany-tinged black into an English pint. Tan micro head with excellent retention leaves slow sheets. Peat and dark pit fruit aromas. Upfront brown bread turning thin and dry. Lasting raisin finish.

Bottle. A light black with a thin soapy white head, that fades quickly and leaves little lacing. A sweet lactos, coffee aroma, with a hint of chocolate. Flavor is rather plain, roasty, sweet,a bit of coffee and coco, the hops seem to be hiding somewhere, I detect little to none, little carbonation, short finish, with a bit of dark bread, and rasins, very thin body. Meh

Typical roasted, malty aroma, with lots of juicyness. Black in appearance, with hints of red. Thinnish caramel coloured head, lots of blackcurrant in the aftertaste.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml courtesy of Bill Parish many thanks. Very dark brown with tan head. Reasonable stout, nice roasted malt notes, dark and earthy with a nutty sweet character to it. Finishes just a touch thin, but overall decent enough.
