Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Poured to a dark brown/black with a thick tan head that lingered ...excellent lacing. So far, so good. Tasty flavor of chocolate was evident throughout the bottle. Unfortunately, the initial flavor of each sip quickly turned to a watery finish. I had hoped this would improve, but stayed consistent for the entire bottle, and negatively offset all other good qualities. What started out promising was ultimately done in by this beer’s inability to overcome its low (4.2 abv) alcohol content.

Beautifully dark with tawny tints at the rim, good off white head. Nose bursts with rich coffee / roast malt aromas. The body, however, lacks a bit...could be a bit fuller in body. Flavours have roast malt to the fore, with a well balanced bitterness which creeps in on the long lasting finish. A good flavoursome brew, if a touch on the light side.

Black Coloring with Sandy Tan Head. Malt/Chocolate Aroma in Chaos... Rich Malt Flavor...Cardboard Malt/Roast Notes...Thin Mouthfeel and Dry Aftertaste. Not Bad Overall, but Lacking in Identity.

[bottle - 16.9 oz] Dark black pour with a thin tan head. Very odd aroma, at least to me. Kind of smelled like chocolate malts, alcohol and cough medicine. The taste was very good though. Kind of alcoholy and mediciney at the start with a very nice and roasty coffee finish. A little thin bodied, but really tasted good.

Pours a nice dark brown. Aromas of malts and chocolate. Flavors of oats, slight caramel, roasted malts and some slightly burnt chocolate tones.
