| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2005 A decent stout, but nothing too amazing. Not that much of a sweet stout, as they oatmeal sweetness is not too noticable. Only a little bit of sweentess in the aftertaste. Easy to drink, but nothing special. My bottle has a much cooler picture on the cover of a guy in a metal helmet out of the middle ages though. maeib (4772), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 28, 2005 Bottled. Black beer with no head. The aroma seems quite roasty for a sweet stout but with some leathery and rubbery notes (as Kook points out). The taste has some oatmeal sweetness but is a bit stale tasting and fusty. Still drinkable but I cannot help downrating it as it is nowhere near as good as the Sam Smiths (which even my good freind SilkTork would agree with!) kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 21, 2005 Bottled: Black with a tan head. Mild choc leathery aroma, touch of rubber almost. Sweet choc, woody taste. Medium bodied. Ok but a bit weird, feels more like a mild than a stout. highlandlad (1278), Sydney, Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 20, 2005 An easy-drinking sweet oatmeal stout in the Scottish style (in other words, don’t expect a big Irish body or bitterness in the finish). Pours with a fair tan head. Big nose bursting with treacle toffee and licorice. The palate is light for a stout, smooth and dry. Roast barley notes. Very drinkable. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 3, 2005 bottle. Poured black with nice tan head. Easy to drink, not much mouth feel or flavor. Odd I was expecting much more. Oh, well, not bad, but nothing special. divenpuke (4), Chico, California, USA does not count | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 24, 2004 tastes like a barney flats mixed 50:50 with bass. Yuk. Why? This seems to be a common thread here in Glasgow. The only stouts you can find ... don’t taste like stouts. Bar tenders here don’t even know what a porter IS!!! It would be good if you called it a strong ale. johndoughty (2170), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2004 A dak and pleasant stout. Some roastiness but too thin to be seen as a classic stout. Overall a bit dull.
