Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Label says Kinmount Willie, but the back says Scottish Oatmeal Stout, so here we go. Thin bodied, yet somehow sticky molasses taste. A bit tinny with a leather like taste. Low abv for a stout. I hope I can finish the bottle.

I would dare say that this isn’t even a stout. Smells like molasses, tastes metallic, can almost see through it, doesn’t have any oatmeal aroma or flavor, very thin and watery. Reminds me of a bad extract beer.

Nice thick tan head. Hints of chocolate, sweet malts and milk. Color is a dark red brown with almost no carbonation. Flavor is a little thin, weak and metallic. Has a strong bite to the flavor which is not a plus. Stings the tongue and is a little bitter. Really not that "sweet". Finish is dry and slightly bitter again. Don't think that qualifies as a sweet stout with its thin flavor and bitterness at the finish.

Pours dark reddisn brown with a medium tan head and good lace. Nose is roasted malt with a touch of smoke and wood. Taste is bitter and roasted with some smokeyness and coffee. Way too thin bodied for a stout.

Garnet in color with tan head. Aroma has hints of chocolate and coffee and caramel but not to any interesting degree. The flavor is somewhat sweet with notes again of coffee and chocolate but not to a satisfying degree. Mouthfeel was thin and weak.

just an ordinary porter in appearance: dark brown like real maple syrup. light easily penetrates this stout--and inside the glass it darts happily about at will-- unhindered by mass or viscosity-- and clearly describes the beer's visera in reddish notes. a light tahini colored head maintains a thin but creamy and persistant puck of foam. milk shake aroma, cocoa, a melon note, and damp oats in a burlap feedbag. it's very watery body is certainly dismaying to a taster in the era of today's typically steroid enhanced stouts, but it has some complexity. like a dry cherry cider in taste, but with softer carbonation; it has a slight sour note, some coffee, and more cocoa-oatmeal, slightly reminescent of a theakston old peculier. there's even a nice wisp of smoke flavor at the end, and though it slides down the palatte as lightly as a sports drink, there is a squeek of bitterness to suggest that the beverage may at some point have come into contact with a hop. like a six year old who can name the moons of jupiter, it's a runt but it's clever.
