Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Pours with a light brown head fades slowly leaving a good lace. Black as coal. Light carbonation. Heavy bodied. Malty, bready nose, starts sweet and finishes smooth with a slight oatmeal after taste. Filling. Best before date - Apr 04 and this was very fresh. $3.99 for a 500ml bottle.

500ml Bottle: Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Has a light fruity smell with a touch of bourbon. Very thin but quite enjoyable.

Pint bottle, nonick glass. Toasted light bread, mild coffee, milk chocolate, oatmeal malt (M); brown sugar, grape jelly, smoke aromas. Somewhat light on the nose. Tall, frothy, tan head is slowly diminishing and sits on a black body (not opaque). Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becoms a lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic finish. Fairly fruity for a stout, IMHO. Medium-heavy body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: more like an oatmeal porter than anything else.

It's ok. Dark, almost black but the head is thin, wispy and short-lived. The aroma is chocolate and toffee adn the flavor has a milky tast to the mostly chocolate flavor. Low level of roasting. Sweet, but not cloying.

Aroma is the best thing going here, chocolate and toffee mainly. Appearance is dark with a faint head. Flavor is watery with some sweet chocolate thrown in. This is a little too light for my liking. Watery palate. Nothing offensive in the taste, just very little taste to speak of. No "Big Willie Style" if you will. I'll pass on this in the future.

Medium body with quickly dissipating medium tan head. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, some coffee, light cherry. Taste is medium sweet, some chocolate, light coffee, and a hint of cherry. Light watery body.
