Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

A little tiny bit more sour than expected, but adds nice balance to a well-crafted sweetness. Alcohol pretty prominent for such a low gravity beer. Interesting, but not one of my fave sweet stouts.

I was under the impression that this was Kinmount Willie. A very good sweet stout. A bit lighter than one would expect, but still has some nice flavors, that make it worth drinking. The pour is a deep golden amber color with a light head. Mouthfeel is medium - bodied at best, has some nice mellow sweetness, a touch of toasted malt, some cinnamon, perhaps brown sugar sweetness, and then at times completely washed out of flavor. Still this one is easy to drink, and would make a nice session.

I would have rated this beer higher, but it lacked flavor, lacks character, it was boring, and it tasted rather flat. It poured a small sized smooth tan head with fine-medium bubbles that was mostly lasting. The body was uncarbonated and opaque with a black hue. The nose was malty and roasted with an acidic, malty and dry flavor to it. The mouthfeel was fairly smooth, thin, dry, watery texture and light-medium bodied. The lacing was good with this beer.

Bottle labelled Kinmount Willie and on the back it says Oatmeal Stout. This brew poured a large head of medium sized creamy dark brown colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a good lacing and an opaque black colored body with no visible carbonation. The wonderful aroma was made up of roasted sweet malts and the mouthfeel was smooth and even from start to finish. No bitterness here! The flavor was an appealing one with a hint of "black beer" flavor, strong malt, no coffee and some sweetness in the lingering fiinish. Very nice brew it is and is much to my liking.

Kinmount Willie pint bottle pours an opaque black with an off white head; I mean it looks real good. The aroma is roasty. The flavor is quite dry for Oatmeal (or as classified, a Sweet Stout). The flavor is roasty and malty, but nothing very pronounced. The palate is nice and rich, but the flavor somewhat lacks to meet the body. Overall, not bad and nice and mild in ABV; perhaps a good session beer, but not my favorite.

I have a bottle of Kinmount Willie, which doesn't turn up a search. At least I finally found it.

A gentle stout; a little smoke in the aroma, little roasted, notes of coffee, milk-chocolate, short finish.

Deep black pour with a frothy tan head. Some coffee lingers in the aroma and the taste. Not bad balance with the malt and the hops. Certainly not as good as the Samuel Smiths I had before this one. It just seems this beer is lacking something. Had this bottle at Union Jack's in Knoxville, TN.
