Nice fruity, smoky, coffee aroma, minor milk chocolate esters. Mildly sweet on the frontend followed by an acidic and smoky finish. Major coffee overtones throughout. Not as sweet as many Oatmeal Stouts. Thin-bodied with a watery and metallic mouthfeel. Overall, not bad just different, quaffable. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 5, 2003 In retrospect, it was probably my fault. I was at my local, and I really had a taste for an AIPA. But I notice this new beer and ordered it instead. It really didn't do too much to grab my attention. Decent aroma of roasted malt and a little coffee and vanilla, and it looked great in the glass. But flavorwise, it just disappeared. Gone. Poof. Easily one of the meekest stouts I've ever had. I may have to re-rate when I am more in a mood to appreciate something subtle, but this was a rated on a clean palate and sober. It may actually be this boring. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2003 A nice looking stout: Dark with a tan head. Strong smokiness in the flavor-I wouldn't exactly say that this tastes like an oatmeal stout. Yeasty, and a bit malty. notalush (2690), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 4, 2003 Nice stout appearance, though it has a short-lived head, the lacing is light tan and decent. Aroma of lactose and roastiness, with some cookie. Flavor starts quite bitter, then that fades and makes way for some subtle maltiness and a finish of oats and excessive lactose flavor. Quite thin bodied, esp. for a stout. Easy drinking, but a mediocre effort at best. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
