Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Nice black hue with brown edges, frothy tan head and good lacing. Nice fruity, smoky, coffee aroma, minor milk chocolate esters. Mildly sweet on the frontend followed by an acidic and smoky finish. Major coffee overtones throughout. Not as sweet as many Oatmeal Stouts. Thin-bodied with a watery and metallic mouthfeel. Overall, not bad just different, quaffable.

Bottled.Dark with spongy large dark beige/brown head. Not your regular stout flavour or aroma. Very thin. Quite unimpressive.

In retrospect, it was probably my fault. I was at my local, and I really had a taste for an AIPA. But I notice this new beer and ordered it instead. It really didn't do too much to grab my attention. Decent aroma of roasted malt and a little coffee and vanilla, and it looked great in the glass. But flavorwise, it just disappeared. Gone. Poof. Easily one of the meekest stouts I've ever had. I may have to re-rate when I am more in a mood to appreciate something subtle, but this was a rated on a clean palate and sober. It may actually be this boring.

A nice looking stout: Dark with a tan head. Strong smokiness in the flavor-I wouldn't exactly say that this tastes like an oatmeal stout. Yeasty, and a bit malty.

Nice stout appearance, though it has a short-lived head, the lacing is light tan and decent. Aroma of lactose and roastiness, with some cookie. Flavor starts quite bitter, then that fades and makes way for some subtle maltiness and a finish of oats and excessive lactose flavor. Quite thin bodied, esp. for a stout. Easy drinking, but a mediocre effort at best.

Light stout, with very smokey flavor. Alittle overdone with the smokiness, also quite sweet. Average beer.

Light stout, with some roasted malts. Broughton does not making best job making theirs beer aroma appealing.... oh well, gets better while you drink. Average. One more, thanks Doug!
