Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Very nice appearance, with a ruby-black body topped by a small tan head... but that's where the niceness ends. Aroma is weak, with just a faint whiff of roasted malt and mocha. Body is watery and flat. Flavour is weak, with some mild malt and coffee notes, and a little hoppiness in the finish. The only thing that made this beer even remotely interesting was a hint of dark cherry that appeared in the finish once it warmed up to room temperature. Otherwise, a disappointing effort that pales next to Sam Smith's and St. Ambroise.

Black, but you can see some light thru it, medium tan head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Thin body. Weak roasted coffee and malt flavor. Sour finish.

This beer didn't do it for me. I found it thin and slightly overcarbonated. The expected flavors were there but I was underwhelmed.

Full of flavor, slightly sweet with a roasted chocolate and oatmeal style flavor. Relatively low alcohol content makes this somewhat smoother than some of the other Broughton Ales.

Was a little on the thin side for my taste. Wasn't chunky enough.

Smells of strong coffe and chocolate with a hint of bitter stout. Pitch black pour with lots of head, looks just like the picture. Flavor is a creamy chocolate oatlike stout. Good representative of the style, reminds me of Fuller's London Porter with a pinch of stout. A very tasty beer.

Black colour, small head. Smokey aroma. Flavour is smokey first, slight roasted malts second. Finish is really weak with just a bit of roasted bitterness.
