Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

purchased at 99 bottles in federal way, washington. pours dark brown with a little red tint when held up to the light, small beige head that goes away quickly, some lacing. smell of cocoa, oats, some licorice. taste is a little on the thin side, tangy, sour, chocolate, oatmeal, some vanilla, some licorice.

Scottish Oatmeal Stout, 16.9 oz bottle with a best by date of October 2008: A barely transparent brown pour with an amber tint around the edges. Fizzy cola-like, diminishing, light tan head and very little lacing. A faint aroma of sweet and roasted malt with some lactic notes. Mouth feel is light for a stout, creamy, and has an odd cardboard aftertaste. Lightly roasted malt flavor with crackers and paper. Fairly empty and thin all around this beer let me down. I was really looking forward to this one, and Broughton puts out some good stuff.

Bottled in Italy. Nice grainy feel, a little smoke, a little liquorice, but ultimately too thin. More body and more strength would have lifted this a lot.

Bought this as part of a holiday four-pack to gift myself this season... jet black body with thin, ozone-like off-white head in a snifter--intimidating! Sharp malt and some oat presence--nodescript otherwise... smooth, creamy body...effervescent around tongue...a bit smokey in the finish...early coffee and nut tastes with a late smokey flavor...milky? oatmeal? enjoyably smooth a nd subtly roasted...I’d drink this again, despite its availability only in 1.9 pints...

Not the worst stout i have tasted but very far from the best. Very mellow and plain. 4.2% ? why bother?
