Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Had under the name Kinmount Willie...molasses and sour raisins...sour port aroma...dark brown body, no head...the thin body wants to be more, but doesn’t know how....those raisins are sour....bad taste, just bad...just a bad brewery, but the sink seems to love it

Smells kinda like those cherry cough drops we used to eat when we were kids, fig newtons after brew has a chance to breath, some caramel is also present, this is a very rich nose. Pours black with ruby highlights. The cascade is quick, resolving into a stiff creamy beige head with light lace. The brew is very well balanced with a lightly acidic tone. The finish is coffee , chocolate, and oatmeal. The medium creamy body is lively. I really like this, I bet it would be excellent on frosted mini wheats!

Bottle. Poured dark brown nearly opaque, with a ruby silhouette when held to the light. Thin foamy beige head left light lacing on the glass. Aroma was roasty smoky malt. The nose carried the same earthy roasty malt flavor with hints of coffee and chocolate. The mouth feel was thin and watery, slightly disappointing. Slightly sweet with a nice mildly bitter hop finish. A nice stout but ultimately standard fare.

Bottled@Poirotti’s Skotoberfest 2007. Really dark rubyish red, next to black basically. Not much head, just a little brownish foam floating. Aroma is very fruity hops with some mild wooden and roasted hints. Flavour is roasted malts, some slight caramel and ryebread. Also some slight brown sugary notes as for the sweetness. Aftertaste leaves a roasted, yet quite hopped flavour.

500ml bottle (Poirotti, Helsinki, Skotoberfest 2007) Jet-black, thin head. Fiarly carbonated. Swet fruitcakey aroma. Milky mouth feel. Very full-bodied, richly roasted sweet malty body, definite oatmeal bent. Tangy brown sourness, very nice.

500 ml bottle poured a clear dark brownish black with a small disapating tan head. Aromas of dark fruit, roasted malt, licorice, light smoke and a hint of coffee. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, black malt, dates, light smoke and a hint of licorice with a smooth malty finish.

Dark chestnut brown with a thin brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, and ash. Medium sweetness with a dy finish, this has plenty of roasted malty goodness. Surprisingly a little thin in the mouth for an oatmeal stout, but quite flavourful regardless. Very nice.
