Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Sometimes known as Kinmount Willie Oatmeal Stout in the US.
Ingredients: Maris Otter Malt; Black Malt; Roasted Barley; Pinhead Oats; English grown Fuggles, Goldings and Target hops.
"Oats are used in the brewing of Scottish Oatmeal Stout to enhance the flavour of the black malt and roasted barley which give this traditional beer its rich dark colour and strong, complex roasted malt aroma and flavour, reminiscent of coffee and chocolate. These flavours are offset by a good hop bitterness and silky aftertaste."

Black, slight brown head. Malty aroma is nice and strong. Little thin. Nice and roasted. Not too malty not drying. Sweet that lingers well. Smooth, gets dryer.

Bottle from Peckhams, Glasgow. Very deep brown with disappearing beige head. It’s got some nice charcoal, choc, coffee and a little sour fruit. Over carbonation. A little empty as it is pasteurised. Flavours are good, but palate is poor. Bit of liquorice.

Bottle served well chilled. Pours a clear dark brown colour with a creamish bubbly mostly diminishing beige head leaving some lacing. Quite sweet aroma of brown sugar with some roasty maltiness. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour is rather waterish, especially for a stout, with a bit weak smokiness, some roasted caramel and malt, some bitter coffe and slight bit of chocolate. Short finish. A rather disappointing thin stout.

500 mL, bbe Jan 08. Typical dark color, but translucent, with red highlights when held up to the light. Small head kind of lingers and leaves fine webbing. Aroma is chocolate, molasses and dry grains, also some occasional vegetal and metallic hops. Taste is dry, mild and very well balanced. Some smoke and roasty caramel-nut flavors eventually emerge. Palate is thinnish and watery; mostly smooth with a slight hop tingle. Could be a nice session stout, but overall seems like a muddled black and tan, or a thin porter.
