HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada

Fairly murky deep brownish-red with an average off-white frothy/creamy head. Interesting aroma of spice, light black pepper, sweet malt and a dash of lemon juice - surprising bitterness in the end. Taste - really interesting - heavy brown sugar malt up front with plenty of sweet spice, then bitter peppery yeast, alcohol and sourness from ... ? I think the body is solid, but it’s so lively, bitter and astringent by the time the finish rolls around I can’t tell - I don’t think it’s a home run, but to me it was at least a stand-up double regretfully eying third ... there’s a lot going on here, but it needs to be a little less brash and a little more blended - the sourness detracts in the end. Pours a hazy yellow cloud with a long lived foamy white head. Typical clove and spices in the nose, with orange peel, and some slight yeasty funk. Tart and sweet, fruity and yeasty. Refreshing if nothing else, with a unique sour aftertaste that left me wanting to try another. Good!
