rauchbier (2875), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Mar 13, 2005 Cask, Out of the Vaults Leicester Crawl Jan 2005. Amber, thin white head and delicate condition. Sweet caramel in the nose, sweet in the mouth but with a little peppery hoppiness emerging before reverting to sweet caramel in the finish.
DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England Feb 4, 2005 Hand pulled at Out of the Vaults, Leicester (during RB Leicester crawl). Brown Bitter, no head. Good tasty aroma. A little bit plain - some dryness and a bit of apple, but not in an amazingly tasty way. OK. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Jan 28, 2005 For a bitter, I thought this had too much butterscotch in the aroma and creamy toffee in the flavour. I would prefer a bit more dry bitterness in a beer with such modest alcohol levels. The condition may not have been perfect, but I couldn’t see myself drinking more than a pint of this, which rather defeats the object of a session bitter. Overall, a bit dull and uninspired. Presumably named after Sue Simpson, the brewery owner, but not one of her best. Cask (handpump), Out of the Vaults, Leicester (RB Leicester pub crawl).
imdownthepub (4224), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jan 26, 2005 Cask Conditioned at Out of the Vaults, Leicester, (RB Crawl). Brown amber beer with thin head. Light bodied bitter with caramel, toffee notes. A little thin with a slightly chemical finish.
