Bomber. Black with a big, rocky, light brown head - very pretty. A bit fruity, lightly sweet coffee. Mildly sour finish. Good.

Pours black with a moderate head. Aroma is strongly of bourbon. Sweetly vanilla and chocolate. Thick mouth feel with a slightly sour, bourbon back mouth feel. Some light chocolate, vanilla, and coffee flavors come forward. Very interesting for an Imperial Stout.

BIG head on this pour with a nice amber body. Intricate aromas of wood , bourbon and roasted nuts. Flavor matches the aroma but with a bit of astringency and some smoke. An interesting beer to sample

Tasted 7/17/07 at a STL beer gathering. Pours deep brown with a light tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet with a lactic side along with vanilla, light bourbon and some citrus. Medium / light body with a bit of semi-sharp carbonation. The taste has lots of lactic acid, some roasted malt that is fairly light and citric acid. The finish is quite citrus and has a bit of bourbon. This did not contain a lot of what I think of when I think of the style. Fair beer, but I’m glad I was able to try it.

Tasted 7/17/07. 22oz bomber. Opaque brown hue. Moldy off-white head. Smokey vanilla woody aromas. Dark fruits. Rather full bodied with musty oaky vanilla flavors. Bright oaky bitterness. Good raisin nuance. Nice.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate with some caramel and alcohol. Flavor is slightly smoky and roasty with some notes of chocolate and vanilla. I don’t really get much of the barrel ageng in the flavor but there is some alcohol there in the swallow. A tasty beer but none of the barrel aging really stands out.

Bottle from Liquor Barn (Hurstbourne Parkway). Pours a deep brownish black with a nice beige head. Aroma of dark roast and bourbon. Medium body with a texture that is somewhat thin for the style, but not watery. There is flavor of dark roast and chocolate, but the bourbon really dominates this beer. It adds flavors vanilla, oak, and maybe even cherry. Notes of chocolate milk also sneak around the palate. This has more Makers Mark type of bourbon traits as a opposed to a hot and charry Jack Daniels. Perhaps even some Southern Comfort (although not a bourbon). Finish has moderate bitterness and some very slight astrigency. Probably not as balanced or as thick for some of the beer snobs, but I enjoyed this beer. The price was very reasonable and this drinks like a session beer. I may have to pick up some more next time I am up in the area. Nicely done.
