iwantalambic (1385), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Nov 15, 2004 Draught; 2004 Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (Chicago): Dark brown with garnet highlights…milky, slight bourbon aroma – strong whiskey flavours – but the lactic component of the palate dulls these a bit. Good vanilla presence surrounding an otherwise thin palate. Short, slightly roasted elements…flirts with some neat flavours, but doesn’t balance out very well. JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2004 FOBAB’04: watery brown. sweet vanilla and chalky chocolate flavor, burdened by a strong metallic, sliver flavor. Some sourness at the sides of my mouth, nice sweet finish had hints of smoke. Great except for the metallic thing going on in the middle. jaymobrown (1341), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2004 FOBAB 2004: Super dark color -- like a cola color. This had just a mish-mash of flavors: sour, vanilla, sweet, coffee, bitter. Oddly enough it also had a metallic taste, which is weird because these were all supposed to be barrel aged and I wouldn’t figure to have a great metallic presence, but there you have it.
