| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 16, 2008 Bomber, purchased and drank at the Hop Leaf in Chicago. The body was hazy medium copper with a light off white head. The aroma was woody with strong grapefruit. There was also some fresh made cloth, if that makes sense. Not fresh laundered, but fresh from the loom. The taste was fairly bitter with some bread crust. There was also some green bean or plent stem type tastes. esjaygee (1581), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 25, 2008 On tap at Brownings brew pub. Deep amber with a lacy off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops and lemon, though it smells really stale. Taste of sweet malts followed by dry citrus hops. Unbalanced and finishes all wrong. This one just didn’t do it for me. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

The aroma had some band aid phenol to it. Citrusy and dirty with light notes of sweet malt underneath. Citrus flavor with a rind taste in the middle. Mild-moderate bitterness on the finish. Lively mouthfeel with a light-medium body. GeneralGao (3072), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 23, 2008 22oz bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color. Head was thick and off white with good retention and lacing. Pleasant aroma of sprucy/grapefruity hops, caramel, and a bit of mango. Dry on the tongue with assertive hop bitterness that peaked at about 7-8 out of 10. Earthy, hop-dominated flavor with the likes of crushed spruce needles and more modest malty caramel and a splash of alcohol. This is a very good IIPA. 502Flavors (629), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. I do believe as someone else mentioned earlier that this beer is worthy of a higher average rating. Though it looks to the yee and feels to the palate to be a normal IPA, it is packed with the bold and refreshing flavor of bunch of piny hops (though malt is hard to detect behind them). The 8.5 abv. has definitely been hidden better, but it seems to go well with the extreme bitterness. Very enjoyable beer for IIPA fans. Sweet brewpub too! mnurda (434), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Bottled Sample whil at Rich O’s Public House in New Albany, IN. Unreal beer. I was surprised cause I had not heard great things about this brewery. Very hoppy and full of citrus. So strong that I had to share it with some folks. Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2008 I can’t believe this beer isn’t rated higher than this. I found this beer to be delicious!
Honey orange cloudy pour, small head.
Smells very citrusy and hoppy with a hint of sweet malt.
Really nice hoppy taste to this. I actually found the flavor of this to be quite a bit better than lots of IIPAs that i’ve tried up to this point. Its not over the top hoppiness like Dreadnaught or anything but still a very nice brew. Thanks to Todd at Keg in Clarksville for recommending this one! Excellent brew!! I picked this up in Kentucky and figured it would be nice to crack open a bottle. I’ve never had anything from Browning but if this is any indication I hope they bottle a few more beers. It is nothing spectacular yet I could see myself visiting their brwepub location when in town. It reminds me of the type of beer you get from the likes of Avery and New Holland.
Aroma / Appearance - The caramel colored body was topped by a white head. Orange and citrus notes were evident but not as strong as what you would get from a West Coast hop bomb. This was much tamer to the point where I would almost consider it simply an IPA.
Flavor / Palate - The first impression is wholy bitter thanks to the hop presence. This quickly recedes leaving behind caramel and citrus. The fluid mouthfeel could be a little thicker. Once again I find myself expecting a little more punch - even regional IIPAs like Lake Erie Monster and Mean Manashi have more kick than this. Still it struck a decent enough balance that I’ll eventually crack open the other bottle in the near future.
