Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

Medium brown, decent head. Slightly dusty and fruity aroma. Flavor is strange, bit of fruit, but then this weird, dusty bitterness. Frankly, I didn’t like this at all.

Aroma is lightly malty like dark bread and toasted nuts and cheese. It pours clear amber with a creamy off white mostly lasting head. It is lightly sweet and acetic and sour with an avrage finish duration. Lithe to medium bodied creamy and soft and a bit metallic. I probably wont get this again, not impressed

Pour is a clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is a sour bready with a hint of skunk. Flavor is sweet and hoppy but not much else. Slightly bland and boring. This is the boring beer of Belgium.

Bottle from Super Saver. Deep golden pour with 1-finger white head. Aroma of bready malt, hopcitrus, some corn. The flavor was citrusy, lemongrassy, limey, with some bready malt, honey, and hop notes.

Bottled. Pours a clear amber with a lacy cream-colored head. The body is medium with medium carbonation. Corriander, toffee and fruit in the nose. The taste is caramel and fruit with a bit of corriander and cloves in the in the ever-so-slightly bitter finish. No out standing characteristics, but no problems either. This would be a hugely sessionable beer.

Bottled. Clear, sparkling, amber ale with a decent beige head. Strange aroma with some sour note, caramel and hops. The flavor is fruity and honey-like, with hops. Thin body and a finish with sweetness and fruityness. Strange, but not bad. The finish lasts long, with a fruity hoppiness. Strange, but not bad beer. (060807)

The aroma really put me off. It’s difficult to accurately describe the nose, other than to simply state that it has a sour scent; somewhat akin to raw poultry. It tastes mediocre, but I cannot get by the smell.

Golden tan color. Smell of caramel, grahmcrackers and honey. Taste of grahmcrackers, fruit, malt, honey and caramel. Dry white wine finish at the end.
