Good lacing but didn’t last long. Aroma is good. Malty with just enough sweetness to make it very tempting. I get a touch honey and pears. Taste is very smooth. A light body with great flavors. The alcohol is well hidden. This is a very tasty beer. Two thumbs up. Mumpu (46), USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 30, 2006 Typical abbey ale -- moderate malts, restrained hops, faint spices and honey, thin body, rather dry. For a Belgian ale, I would have preferred more prominent spices. Pleasant conversation beer but not spectacular. roder60 (1020), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jan 14, 2006 Pours a clear medium orange gold with a miniscule amount of white head. Aroma is extremely sweet of caramel and butterscotch. Flavor is sweet, but then a bitter dry finish. Overall, very very lousy beer for the price. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2006 Honey-red pour, strong aroma of butterscotch and dried apricots, heavily malty with honey and caramel, faint hop flavor. Unusual for an amber, even a Belgian--the butterscotch was almost overwhelming, to me. cbrixius (136), Newberrytown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Though I am not familiar with too many Belgians, my guess is this beer is about as average as they come. Nothing to write home about. It poured a clear amber with an inch of amber foam. Easy drinking and it may qualify as a good session beer. blankboy (3200), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2006 Bottle. Pours a clear bubbly orange-amber with a large lasting fizzy white head. Nice lacing. Sweet aroma of yeast, fruit, caramel malt, spices and a mild sourness. Flavour follows the aroma and surprises with a nice mild bitter finish. Fizzy and dry, it goes down smooth. Thin bodied. Pretty good. I would like to taste this again as it showed promise as being a enjoyable belgian and if a fresher sample came way it would probably deem a higher rating. Sregnar35 (729), Rotterdam, New York, USA
