JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England Jul 21, 2005 Bottle. Amber coloured with a slim white head. Sweet malty and caramel aroma. Quite a thin mouthfeel, with a malty, sugary, caramel taste and a light sour finish. Nothing special. chriso (4665), London, Greater London, England Jul 13, 2005 Beer #25 at Croydon Draught Belgian Beer Festival. Attractive bronze colour. Otherwise I couldn’t get too excited about this. Malty throughout. Reasonably dry. Nothing wrong with it, but a bit dull.
Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 8, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Amber golden with a small off-white head. Malty nose, and some roasted malt throughout. No real sweetness though. Not really what you would expect from Van Steenberge, but then again of course they would also have a "Speciale" type in their impressive portfolio. Pleasant if not exactly thrilling. 260798 kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Jul 8, 2005 Ruby amber with a white head. Medium bodied. Mild fruity nutty aroma. Nutty sweet malts with a yeasty twist. puzzl (2579), New York, New York, USA Jul 2, 2005 Buttery, yeasty, biting aroma. Smooth orange appearance with a subtle head. Flavor was buttery with a touch of hops but lacking in complexity and finish. Palate felt a touch watery. Not too bad... I’d put it higher than most other 50th percentiles I’ve had. Brad (364), Berkley, Michigan, USA May 25, 2005 Transparent ruby amber, nice three finger head, pleasant sizzle and mostly lasting. Aromas of yeast, nuts, bread, caramel and faint alcohol. Flavor is mostly sweet malts and yeast, finishing with a warm clean finish. Very light in the mouth. Faint lacing. frankenkitty (1900), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA May 12, 2005 First pour was entirely a large-bubbled, mostly white head. Eventually revealed was a thick, auburn body with particles in suspension below a tight, retaining head. Weak aromas to start... milky malts, progressing to a nice, earthy caramel when warmer. Lemony-flavor to start, proceding to salty bitter, but held together with a hearty, malt fullness. Medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a spicy finish.

axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2005 Pours a clear red-orange color body with a small head and minimal lacing. Aroma is very subtle. A little bit o’ cherry, a little nutty malt, a little yeast...noting impressive. The flavor is rather eh (weak). Pretty much, a little bit of the same mixed with water eith some sourness(not bad) in the finish.
