thevulcan (16), England Apr 10, 2005 From bottle. Fruity aroma, but less sweet than other Belgian ales I have tried. Very fizzy with white head. Blandish taste, which makes it quite drinkable compared to some other strong tasting beers beerslayer (753), New Jersey, USA Apr 2, 2005 This is an ok Belgian Ale. Somewhat bland, tart, and yeasty. Finishes crisp, smooth, and dry. Mklein818 (165), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium Mar 31, 2005 A light-bodied Belgian ale--with some distinctive Belgian characteristics (deep aroma, yeastiness) that bely the 5.2% alcohol content. A bit more characterful than Palm or Vieux Temps--something good to drink when not drinking Quadrupel--a nice change of pace from pilsners or English-style ales. beerandrugby (210), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Mar 15, 2005 bottle. Sourish taste that reminds me of a buckwheat beer I had once, yeasty...has that same belgian taste that other belgians do. Good, however not extraordinary. I liked it though. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 11, 2005 Dull clear colour and little head. Aroma yeast and esters. Taste slightly sour and touch something musty, thin, sweetish, a bit flat and sticky but still an interesting Belgian session-type beer. Sort of a mass-produced quality to it - Bruegel is, like Mort Subite, indefineably European, even if not the greatest. Different... quite okay stuff. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Mar 9, 2005 Pours clear deep amber, tiny white head. Nose is sweet and fruity, lightly spiced. Very straight forward. Quite malty, not very bitter. Lots of apple sauce. Good but not exciting. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Mar 3, 2005 Bottled. Opaque, orange/ brown in color with a big, frothy tan head. Yeasty aroma with spicy notes and something that resembles coriander. Spicy and carbonated with generous malt sweetness. Not much in the way of hops. Sanchex (223), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 1, 2005 This one has been sitting around for awhile but still in it’s prime. Very head pour, sour/sweet aroma akin to a flemish sour. Not so heavy on the port aroma, but more floral/spicy like a typical belgian beer. Smooth flavour, at first taste is similar to a dubbel but then mellows out to something closer to an english ale. Slight bitterness. Sweet malt notes, full body. Cheers!
