mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA Jan 13, 2005 Pours with a HUGE off white head which is very long-lasting. Deep, slightly cloudy amber hue. Aroma of just ripe apricot, pear and peach with a perfumy orange blossom background. Initial taste is fruit juice sweet but quickly transforms into an upfront tart sourness which while not unpleasant, the contrast took a little getting used to. Some slight mineral-like dryness in the short finish. Enjoyable, but not that memorable. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Jan 10, 2005 Thanks Jadoreblanche! You’re the best! nice brown/abmer body, accompanied by a long lasting foamy white head. Some lacing left behind as well! Aroma is fruity (prunes?) hoppy, and sweet like cotton candy. taste is sweet, and there are those prunes again. Bitter, and hoppy. Nice bite on the tounge. Fairly well balcned. Nice one! tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 8, 2005 Bottle, Belgian Gift Pack, 2004 LCBO. Orange pour. Good long lasting bubbly white head. Wonderful fruity and sharply spicy aroma. Mouthfeel is actively carbonated and tingly, but does feel a little thin. Taste was more fruit and spice - I was missing the word to describe it and then I saw it below - tart. There was a subtle tartness to the cherry like flavours for sure. Slightly lingering bitter finish, but watered down by, well, the overall taste being a little watery. Overall, not too bad though, I’d have another. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA Jan 1, 2005 11.2 oz. bottle. Poured a clear amber, with a very strong fuit nose. Citris, apricut. Firm foamy head, offf white in color. Sour taste, not very nice. Taste like , fruit, but not good fruit. oh, I do not like this. Bitter also. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Dec 9, 2004 OOps i poured this little to fast and now theres a huge fluffy head that aint going away. Amber hue, and a soft but delicious aroma. Flavor was a jolt to the taste buds of tart unripe fruits and mild bitterness. Sense some gold or green apple peelings, along with pear and grape. All of which are fresh and unripe so it has that sour taste there. Still a enjoyable ale no matter the country it sets a strong standard. Hoss (602), Florida, USA Dec 5, 2004 a very enjoyable non complex belgian. Nice BIG head and a slight sour beginning. iam (369), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Dec 4, 2004 Pours a slightly hazy amber with a monsterous frothy head. Interesting sour and apricot aroma. Medium body. Taste, again interesting. kind of like a lightly peppered apricot and a slice of bread. Certainly a different beer. pootzboy (1031), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Dec 2, 2004 330ml belgian stubbie bottle. This ale poured a reddish orange with a tight off white frothy cap that retains well. Fruity boquet in the nose...some slight sweet and sour effects. medium bodied...sweet without cloying and a distinct tart-peppery apricot tone to the taste mingles with doughy malts...finishes well going dry and a tad bitter...certainly one of the more drinkable belgian ales with a nice unique taste.
