Also had at the Belgian Fest in East Croydan and had to add this to the rating for Duff. ’Duff says bready caramel, Wow, woo hoo yeh....carmel’. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Apr 2, 2003 Bottle. A hazy reddish golden color with a tan head. Talk about a whole lot of nothing going on this beer. A little caramel malt aroma that doesn't carry over into the flavor. Light and empty. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2004 The first time I tried this, I wrote the following:
Big, billowy, creamy white head, cloudy pale amber color. Aroma is fresh and slightly spicy, taste is blase. A fine, easily drinkable ale, but nothing to shout about. Is this the sort of thing that the revellers in Bruegel’s paintings were drinking (as represented on the label)? Did they have to drink a lot of it? 5.2%, with very little spark or flavor.
On my second visit with this beer, my opinions didn’t change much. I discerned a fruitiness in the finish, found the palate to be smooth and refreshing, and complimented the balance. Moreover, I recognized the folly in my facetious remark, and realized the beer for what it is meant to be : a light "peasant" beer. Your party’s over pretty quick if your beer is something like Gulden Drak, and same for your aspirin supply! Of course, they drank a lot of it, they’re REVELLERS. At least they had better beer than you’d find at a contemporary American house party, where you’re likely to guzzle on a High Life, or sumpin’.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Medium brown, decent head. Slightly dusty and fruity aroma. Flavor is strange, bit of fruit, but then this weird, dusty bitterness. Frankly, I didn’t like this at all. DYCSoccer17 (2192), Davis, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 29, 2008 11.2 ounce bottle as a part of a mixed 6 pack that was purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. This motherfucker was a gusher that caught me off guard. Not very happy about the mess it has left me. Aroma is quite grainy and cereal like. There is a bit of a musty yeast aroma with a touch of metallic sweetness. Mildly hazy copper color with a little extra orange hue. Huge off-yellow head that explodes out of the bottle. Appearance takes the hit for this being a gusher. Starts a bit sweet with a touch of metal and a light astringency. Becomes toasty, grainy, and very cereal like in the middle. Kellog’s Corn Flakes comes to mind. FInishes with a bit of a spiciness and without too much in the way of hops. I like the chewy and cereal-like nature of this beer. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of butterscotch and caramel. Malty and tart with some apple flavor. Body is both wheaty and fizzy. Very average. I gave an extra overall point for the cool 16th century beer-themed painting by Pieter Bruegel the Elder on the bottle.
