Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

clear amber, though no head. nose is sweet and sharp, obvious aromatic malt influence. Taste is very much malt forward, reminiscent of a dark lager, caramel. Not too bad, actually.

Pours out a light brown, thin medium sized head. Caramel and sweetness on the nose. Watery mouthfeel with caramel, honey and maybe a bit of bitterness on the finish. Aftertaste isnt’ good

Aroma of spice, tea leaves, and sweet malts. Amber-orange in color, thin head. Medium bodied, bittering hops balanced well by the bready malts. Not bad.

Pours clear amber with a thick foamy head, lot’s of effervescence. Nose is estery and a bit sour. Flavors of spice and orange peels. Mouthfeel is much like champagne, lots of acerbic carbonation.

Nice dark brown color, but a little excessive on the head. Aroma is heavy on the yeast, and some of and some leafy notes. The flavor isnt that up to par. More of a bite than needed, and less of a full flavor than wanted.

330ml bottle served in a Chimay chalice. Aroma is mild to moderate brett (barnyard), citrus, and light honey/caramel. I think it smells great, akin to Orval. Gold colored with a wispy head and light, but persistent carbonation. A small amount of yeast stays with the bottle. Tatse is tasty brett (barnyard/horseblanket), citrus (lemon), mildly earthy, minerally taste along with some nice, firm malt backing. Finishes dry, somewhat thin, but not too bad at all. My rating appears to be much higher than most, maybe I got an infected bottle? If so, thanks!

I seem to get brett character out of several Van Steenberge beers.
