The aroma is of caramalts, dried apricot, lots of sweet malts and other fruits as well. It actually smells really nice, like how an actual amber ale would/should. Tastes, odd, not bad, but it doesn’t make me say wow. It tastes like everything I listed above, with a bit of yeast, and a slightly hoppy/ metallic finish. Sweet, malty aftertaste. Unlike any other Belgian beer I’ve ever come across before, it’s sort of a blend of a Wit with an amber ale. The result is pleasant enough. Decent beer. It gets some bonus point for the neat-looking illustration on the bottle label. jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Pours light amber with a large white head. Dark malt and dark fruit aroma. Not bad, but not special. The flavor begins sweet, then turns somewhat sour. There is a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Drinkable--even pleasant--but not re-drinkable. mike mcneil (660), St Augustine, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 13, 2005 Pours with a HUGE off white head which is very long-lasting. Deep, slightly cloudy amber hue. Aroma of just ripe apricot, pear and peach with a perfumy orange blossom background. Initial taste is fruit juice sweet but quickly transforms into an upfront tart sourness which while not unpleasant, the contrast took a little getting used to. Some slight mineral-like dryness in the short finish. Enjoyable, but not that memorable. Gypsy19 (660), California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Pours a clear copper with a medium white head which recedes quickly. Aroma is pretty dull, metallic, cardboardy, with a little hop way in the back. Flavor is again a roll of dimes, just the slightest hint of malt under the metal. Light, crisp mouthfeel, good carbonation. Drinkable, but not much more to get excited about above that. Overall, fair to good. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2003 Orangish amber with a giant well carbonated head. Fruity aroma is followed by tastes of yeast and overripe fruit. A slight metallica taste detracted from the overall enjoyment. Overall, not too bad, but there are many better Begians out there. french tickler (642), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2006 Drank in a tulip. Nice head, red / brown hazy poor. Aromas of an old basement, oranges, old oak... these aromas reminds me a little of the Duchesse de Brougogne but not as potent. Very floral hoppy aroma with added apples and raspberries. Flavors of wood a little sweet caramel and coriander. Bitter rubarb feel. Missing a little alcohol, creamy finish, well balanced. Very good overall. Jblauvs (641), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
