Commercial Description:
Bruegel is an easy drinking soft and tasty amber ale. Thanks to the refermentation it offers more body, more head and more taste than most other American and Belgian Amber ales. It is brewed with Dutch barley and German hops. Although the bitterness is clearly present, it is not dominant.

Huge thick creamy white head. Drank out of the chimay glass with the etch in the bottom and this created a volcano of head coming up through the rest of the one-fingered white head. Lots of lacing down the glass as it goes too. The aroma is nutty with a pinch of caramel and lightly tart qualities. The flavor is earthy and medium bodied. More like a belgian ale than a amber....oh wait, that's the the category says. WTF is up with the bottle then?! Is an amber ale in belgian really a belgian ale? So an american amber is an american ale?! I'm confused. Anyways, back to the rating. Finishes very yeasty (I poured in the bottle conditioning, tee hee) and sulfuric. Overall this was pretty average as far as belgians and might I say, a macro belgian? Not to say they aren't artisinal, it's just that they seem pretty common and widely distributed. ok, not macro, "mass marketed". I live if fucking Idaho, if I can get this it must be something pretty damn widely distributed.

Beer #25 at Croydon Draught Belgian Beer Festival. Attractive bronze colour. Otherwise I couldn’t get too excited about this. Malty throughout. Reasonably dry. Nothing wrong with it, but a bit dull.

Clear amber iwth an off-white head. Aromas are sweet toffee malts with a mellow fruitiness and spices. Flavours are fruit and spicy with sweet malts. OK, but all too mellowed out for my liking.

Bottle from Super Saver. Deep golden pour with 1-finger white head. Aroma of bready malt, hopcitrus, some corn. The flavor was citrusy, lemongrassy, limey, with some bready malt, honey, and hop notes.

Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly diminsihing. Body is clear dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, cereal), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Not pleasant.

Rerate. A nice white head. The body is a very dark copper and amber color. A slight funky balsamic vinegar and blue cheese aroma. There are also some apples. Interesting. The taste is slightly sour with some limes and oranges. A hint of bread crust. Finishes with some sweet peaches. This is certainly unique.

Aromas of caramel malt and fruit. Brilliant coppery color with a slight beige head that tries to lace. Light plummy flavor, followed by a sour component, and finishes slightly bitter and semi-dry. A really pleasant drink.
